Why I Love The Dead Island Series

Rich Drummond of Gaming Tech United writes:

"Dead Island is a very polarizing series that some absolutely hate, but some gamers absolutely love. Personally I'm in the camp that loves the Dead Island franchise. It's a series that has taken a lot of flack in recent years, but through it all, my love for Techland's, and now Yager Development's, zombie franchise has not wavered? Why you ask? let's take a look!"

Dead Island is the most fun i've ever had in a co-op game.

FlyingFoxy3556d ago

Fun? i barely played the first one, made me feel sickly after 20 mins due to all the poor graphical effects and camera sway.. literally the only game i've ever gotten that from, except maybe other than Descent on PS1.

Tripwire and Valve make way better zombie Co-op games, more fun and not so broken.

Scrivlar3556d ago

Takes waaaay too many hits to kill the zombies for me, like the brute ones I had to hit about 30 times before he went down. Made the game far too repetitive, if they change that it could be a great one.

"The dialogue is super cheesy, the acting is not anything to shake a stick at and the set pieces seem pretty cliche."

what happened?
that's why people are so divided over it. It was not intended to be similar in style to a "cheesy low budget horror movie". It just ended up being that way.

NinjaRichParty3556d ago

Oh I know that, but I still enjoy it. I know they didn't mean to create something like they did, but the end product is still something that I enjoyed my time with.

I'm with you on that! I just enjoy the overall co-op experience. Oh...and the theme songs!!! I guess Dead Island will go down as the Sharknado of video games.

While I enjoyed the first game, Dead Island Riptide was a bug fest with some of the worst voice acting/dialogue I have ever heard.

Another Stealth Drop on Gamepass!

Let´s kill some Zombies!

Kornholic78d ago

Instead of helping the developers and publishers recuperate development and marketing costs by buying the games you are interested in so that they can keep creating new games in the future, you place the burden on PS and PC gamers (who actually buy games) to fund the game development.

That is Game Pass in a nutshell.

redrum0678d ago

Ok, so what's Sony doing with their Extra and Premium subscription then?

Lightning7777d ago

Valve gave this game away for free last week. You need to go after them?

You realize MS pays the devs to get the game on GP right?

Kornholic77d ago

Sony is offering a service where games that are past their self life can generate more income. That's not Sony's main strategy for games and gamers.

Game Pass is for many developers/publishers the only CHANCE to even make SOME money on Xbox platform. Xbox's main strategy is Game Pass, and Xbox gamers don't buy games the same way PS and PC players do, and that is not sustainable.

Not on PC Game Pass, for some reason?

bunt-custardly78d ago

Yeh, I checked that (sad face). Only option for PC gamers with Ultimate is to cloud stream.

Gamingsince198178d ago

It's on torent sites though so if you want it free like most xbox users just get it there

Asplundh78d ago (Edited 78d ago )

Free? Pretty sure I pay a monthly subscription to access the games.

Snookies1278d ago (Edited 78d ago )

Nah, I'm good on that man. I used to torrent games when I was younger, not anymore though. Not trying to get my $2000 PC infected with malware. Plus, I've got a decent job so I can afford to buy my games/subscriptions.

InUrFoxHole78d ago

That's crappy. Should be on both

Christopher78d ago

LIcensing to include PC is much more expensive than just console. Especially for a non-GaaS game.

Profchaos77d ago

But they want to grow gamepass on PC so really they should still try and license both it's not uncommon however e.g. red dead redemption 2, GTA v both came to console gamepass and xcloud but not PC.

Christopher76d ago

Both of the games you listed are very heavy on GaaS/seasonal MTX.
