Growing Up Sega: The Master System

From the article, "[Jerimiah Mueller] plays video games because of my father. Way back in the previous millennium, the mid 1980′s to be slightly more precise, he started getting me into gaming via his Atari 7800. This was short-lived, as he bought an NES shortly afterwards, which we played on for probably a couple years. I’m not sure when exactly, but at some point, my Dad became a complete Sega fanboy. This would influence me as a gamer for the rest of my life."

I started gaming with Atari, Colecovision, and Intellivision. Then went on to NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, then it was Playstation. And Playstation is where i've been playing ever since. I do remember games for the Genesis like Phantasy Star and StarFlight. Good games, even though they weren't 60FPS and 1080p.

I bought the master system in 1987 for double dragon. It was two players. Double Dragon 2 and River city ransom came out for NES and killed my thunder. Then I had Phantasy Star and I was king of grade school again.

Many hate the master system box art but it's very nostalgic for me and I love the cases.

Sega sells Relic and will cut 240 jobs across UK studios

GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.

The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."

Shame about Creative Assembly, they should have just been allowed to do an Alien Isolation sequel.

It was that garbage coh 3 that did them in only a special team can make a sequel worse in every way even though it was a 10 year gap and the same era.

I hope they find new jobs in the industry soon.

Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive probably run on a shoe string budget so that fits into SEGA better lol
