As all the post-Electronic Entertainment Expo content comes pouring in across the internet this week, we’ve noticed that one particular game is being overlooked by many. Hellraid, publisher/developer Techland’s new first-person hack-and-slash, isn’t exactly making major headlines, which is a shame because it looks truly promising.
Dying Light 2 developer Techland talks about the "secret formula" to their games' success, and comments on how they see live service games.
Dying Light 2 was horrible. I played it at launch and it was a buggy and broken piece of shit. I didn't enjoy the game's locale either. They've released a ton of patches and updates for it though, and I'm somewhat keen to give it another chance. But the game left a horrible impression on me, especially seeing as how the first one was my favourite game last gen.
Pawel writes: "Today I am happy to announce the partnership with Tencent who are in the process of becoming Techland's majority shareholder."
"We will retain full ownership of our IPs, maintain creative freedom, and continue to operate the way we believe is right. I'm also going to continue serving as the studio’s CEO."
Unless it angers China and Winnie the Poop. Then I'm out of a job and we'll be fu...Ahem. Anyways. Please clap and be excited!
Thank you!
o( _ _ )o All Hail our Megacorp Overlord! Hail Hydra!!
New open world fantasy action rpg is going well apparently. Been watching some Dying Light 2 endgame as well. We’ll see how it all turns out.
Dead island 2 is a better game than dying light 2. So whatever you do please make more fun games
More consolidation... Not good.
I really hope that the main "asset" with a company like tech land is it's people, and if you jerk around the people, they'll leave and make great games for someone else, maybe start something new.
Maybe tools like unreal will lower the barriers to entry to make this easier?
Dunno, trying to be optimistic that this, too, will pass.
Ultimately if they can't make good games, the investment will fail and the good people will move on.. I hope
Techland has finally revealed a preview of its unannounced AAA fantasy open world action-RPG.
Keep using the C-Engine.
Just update it with more higher-quality assets and effects.
What is it with companies making fantasy RPGs? There’s 3 or 4 new ones announced every day at this point. It’s the same stuff over and over again.
Ok this is really interesting.
It looks like there might be 3 studios working on AAA fantasy open world action RPG's.
Bethesda (ESVI)
Obsidian (Avowed)
and now Techland.
As a fan of the genre generally, this is really cool.
Maybe it's what they originally had planned for Hellraid before it became what it did in Dying Light.
Looking at Techland's previous work, I hope its a mix of Dying Light and Pure Farming Simulator 2018!
Hellraid does actually look good. Techland seems to be on a role. I hope they keep those nasty bugs away from their new releases.
Looks great Iooking forward to playing this with my friends.
How are people just accepting this stuff?? It's Skyrim with the interesting (not commercially viable) bits removed and Borderlands style co-op tacked on because the consumer reports say that'll be the big money maker this upcoming year. This author even complains that Skyrim restricted the player to a single player experience? Ugh. It's not the people selling the snake oil that are killing gaming, it's the millions guzzling it down.
Just wait for next year's 'BloodFire' (or some other equally douchey name) which will literally be this exact game with poorly rendered hats placed on the enemies heads. The media will preview it like 'we noticed some similarities to last year's Hellraid but the addition of new hats makes this one to watch in the upcoming months'. The fans will comment 'omgzzz SO exited to play it' and 'Carnt wate' and then a few weeks after release everyone will be ready to admit it was absolute crap.
I'm excited about this and I'm not even an Elder Scrolls fan (obsessed with Fallout though).
Have they confirmed that this will be a retail release or a PSN title?
