The Best 9 Easter Eggs In Video Games

It's that time of year again where parents send their children off to look for hidden decorated Easter eggs, eggs that they've taken the time to boil and decorate and then hide, all for the pleasure of mashing two of them into each other to see which comes out as egg champion. Such a tradition seems so timeless and entertaining that game developers have actually taken to implementing their own idea of Easter eggs into their games, be it a giant rat scurrying down the streets of Manhattan or a lonely conscript misusing one of Gandalf's most famous lines.

Easter eggs, much like achievements and trophies, give us gamers a reason to replay an entire game , and since it's Easter right now, why not take the time to list down some of the best Easter eggs we've seen in our history of gaming?

Mario Auditore's name being Mario is an Easter egg?

Who knew? Its not like there are millions of Italians named Mario or anything.

VengefulPenguin3659d ago

it's not the Easter egg.... The way he says "It's A-Me Mario!" is the Easter egg.. That would've been pretty obvious if you read well enough or if you've played any Mario game :|

Heisenburger3659d ago

Yeah, it's pretty clear they are referencing the Mario franchise.

I got a good kick out of it myself.

The Easter egg article is pretty clever, given what today it. I like it.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast21d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22921d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko21d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
