OT: Great to see the Wii U have a good week in sales. PS4 did a great job moving consoles this week as well. Nintendo software sales are through the roof. he attachment rate for the system looks to be really high!

Shocking that ps4 has exceeded the Wii U american units but Wii U is is clearly the system selling software right now out of the 3. Why aren't 3rd parties developing for wii U when clearly Nintendo gamers like to buy games?

The thing is over half of the Wii U software sales are for one first party game (Donkey Kong at 108k), whereas the largest single game sales on PS4 is for a third party game (COD at only 19k).

There's no doubting the quality that Nintendo games usually bring justify these kinds of sales, but the figures do nothing to encourage greater third party support, sadly.

It's a tough situation that only the consumers can change, unless a developer is willing to take a punt.

Because they only like to buy games MADE by Nintendo (and occasionally SEGA). Third party software usually doesn't do all that well on Nintendo consoles.

Fanboys can keep blaming bad ports, but this isn't a new trend on Nintendo home consoles. Nintendo has continued to give poor support to third party developers and third party developers continue to give them worse support because Nintendo has created a fanbase that only wants Nintendo-made games.

The WiiU has the highest software sales as the ps4 and xbone had no new games out.. Sales would have died down from other games.. So to say that's the system selling software is just silly..

There is only one good port on the Wii-U that comes to mind and that's Need For Speed Most Wanted but it came out 5 months later.

It should be close. The PS4 outsold the XBO, by an average of around 65% for the month of February. Since both consoles are settling in (although PS4's are still limited) it safe to say that the difference in March would be the same if not for TitanFall launching.

Now that the TitanFall bundled has been released with the game for $499 in the US, and a price drop in EU the XBO should post some great numbers.

That being said people are counting out inFAMOUS, and to be honest it's the first real AAA PS Exclusive IMO (Killzone was good, but inFAMOUS seems to be it), and the inFAMOUS bundles are selling out too.

I think the XBO and PS4 will be neck and neck in the US, and XBO might barley outsell PS4 in the US simply because inFAMOUS doesn't come out until the end of the month. But WW the PS4 is still going to win. 5:1 sales in EU isn't being fixed by 1 game and a minor price drop, maybe 3:1 now.

It also depends on what's being shows at GDC, MS is suppose to have a small reveal (most likely indie games, since GDC is dominated by them), meanwhile Sony is suppose to have a big reveal (rumored to be the VR headset and reveals for games that use it). So if Sony has an amazing GDC then that could mean more sales for them as well.

US numbers: Could go either way, I give XBO a slight edge
EU number: Sony's stomping ground still.
JP number: Will PS4 still be the best selling platform or will 3DS reclaim it's title?

I will add some notes:

*I wouldn't give the edge to any system, Titanfall game (separate) has overtaken the Xbox One bundle on Amazon and at GameStop so expect that game to post big numbers, but clearly the majority of purchases are by people who own the console (or course).

*Expect Xbox One sales to basically plummet from not until the 11th as the bundle is preorder and wont count for sales until 3/11.

* Wii U is showing that its still alive and moved the most software of the three.

Hard to tell for the USA, depends how their consumers see Titanfal and if they believe that Microsoft turned it's ways. The new releases will finally determine the total platform hardware sales and IMHO it will be close with M$ maybe getting at least another peek at the proverbial top. Also it depends IF? M4 will announce a price drop in the USA like the UK with a free TF download to try and move stock as they WILL have to do something drastic and very much sooner than later! Selling millions more than the PS4 I doubt!

LOL maybe Nintendo will have the last laugh for March!

Even though they are constantly SOLD OUT. That doesn't mean units aren't being restocked, they just sell out quickly. It's not like Sony isn't shipping units or something. Now imagine if Sony could keep units in stock, imagine how much they will sell then.

I think this shows us how many ps4 units they are producing. Stores get them they sell. I have seen 3 ps4's since launch at our local retailer.

Compare sales number in Japan for the 360 and that will give you a glimpse into the future, not only for weekly or monthly but for the entire lifecycle of the console. Also look at the sales numbers in EU as of right now for current gen.

Whose fault is that? MS chose not to release in those smaller countries because it wasn't worth their time. They assumed the US & UK would be enough. Look at the countries where both are selling. It's not like they'd be tied if they were sold in the same places.

XB1 isn't winning anywhere. PS4 outsells it at ratios of up to 5:1 depending on the country. That's the best I can do for your request.

The reason people in certain countries cannot buy an Xbox One is because Microsoft chose not to release the console there. Have you given thought as to why they made that decision? Microsoft, as with any company, likes to make money. You think they are going to not release in a country they feel they can make money in (especially considering the abundance of inventory)? The only reason Microsoft has not released the Xbox One in as many countries as the PS4 is because they feel it is not worth the investment at this time. If Microsoft does not think their consoles can sell well in these countries, why do you (or anyone else that brings up this "reasoning")? Microsoft has released the Xbox One in their strongest markets already, releasing in the other countries at this time is not going to make much (if any) of a difference... Otherwise they'd have launched in those countries by now (or at least make an announcement).

EDIT: Basically the whole "compare the same markets" or the "PS4 is available in more countries" argument is irrelevant and makes no difference.

man i have had 6 game so far for my ps4 not counting digital. would think the avarage would be at least 2.

I honestly want to know what the PS4 buyers here in the states are purchasing (game wise)? I mean the thing is still selling out but according to this list of software no one is really buying games... I wonder what the PS + memembership attach rate is looking like and whether these buyers are just going through that to get a few free games? It's very interesting to see early adatopers purchasing a system wil the obvious potential for great games vs having them up front.

Worldwide the PS4 is selling more software (11.5m to 9m). But narrowing down to US only, how is 5.1 million to 5.8 million = "not really buying games"?

Speaking for myself, part of the reason I have not bought any new games since launch is because I've been given several free ones as a PS+ subscriber.

That's what all early adopters do. It's hard to think of a system whose launch titles end up showing it's real potential.

If you bought a PS4 and no games, what are you playing? Resogun, flower, flow? I would hope that all PS4 owners are buying software to offset the losses hardware sales make. If the reported numbers floating around this story are correct, PS4 owners buy significantly less software for their system globally.

According to this story, the Xbox One and PS4 in North America are not that far apart in hardware and software sales with the PS4 selling slightly more hardware and the Xbox One selling slightly more software.

Not because of any facts you bring to the table, since they usually aren't facts, but little tidbits.

But because of how you take those little tidbits and craft a reality you firmly believe in, and fervently try to get others to accept.

First off, there are five games that cost you nothing on PS4 outside of what's on PS+. When you add in what's been given on Plus, that adds Contrast, Resogun, Don't Starve, and Outlast. Plus Flower, Sound Shapes, and flOw. In short, there's a helluva lot to play without buying any games.

Second- and I'd think this would be obvious- the PS4 is far more geared toward digital games than the XB1. Do you look at the sales every week with Plus? (Oh, and by the way, Plus is a great source of revenue for Sony in regards to the PS4.) Or the fact that the PS4's HDD can be upgraded? VGChartz obviously doesn't track digital sales, so that difference in the US could easily be made up by the digital sales difference on each console.

Of course, this is just speculation, but it's not an unreasonable possibility.

But leave it to you to make it sound like PS4 owners aren't actually buying games.

@choujij I was speaking more specifically to the US numbers above. It looks like the PS4 has an attach rate of roughly 2 and the Xbox has 2.5 games purchased. I know I bought NBA2k and Battlefield. Generally speaking I would have thought of attach rate closer to 2.5 to 3 for both consoles.
@MysticStrummer I miss the days where launch titles really showed off a systems abilities or uniqueness . I bought two 3rd multiplats with a ton of replay ability to hopefully keep me going until at least Infamous. Though I my urge for a new game is quickly getting to a tipping point.
@Fanboyssuck27 Sony typically doesn't do "must have" launch titles, I am excited for Infamous, and TitanFall has me budgeting for that new bundle. The Wii U took roughly a year to punch out some good stuff. I'm a sucker for new machines... there's no nothing like the high from opening it up, pluggig it in, and turning it on for the first time.

Their just mostly buying cross-gen ports of games you can already play on PS3,Xbox 360 and PC. These early adopters want to move on from the last generation hardware ASAP even though it still means that a lot of the games coming out this year for PS4 are still based on last generation software.looking like their going to be following down that path too. Honestly, I don't really see third parties making the full transition to the current generation of software development until 2015. By next Fall, we should see the full transition go into effect.
