You know what is really refreshing about Mark Cerny? He talks about the PS4 and everything related to the PS4. Unlike that fat, bald guy from MS from a few years back, that all he did was bad mouth the PlayStation rather than focus on his own company's products.

Does anybody remember that guy's name? it was around the Time that Turn 10 studios was openly badmouthing polyphony studios about Gran Turismo 5.

The whole "somebody who is not very well known in the industry" part of the interview made me cringe. That along with the E3 stage part really showed the interviewer didn't do his homework. I thought Cerny handled the interview well, especially those questions which didn't quite come out right...

Cerny comes across as a guy who is very professional in how he conducts himself, yet manages to appear trustworthy and highly likeable at the same time. Really a valuable part of the Sony team.

This is why I prefer Sony above it's competitors. They produce GOTY winning console-exclusive AAA titles, their support for independent developers is unmatched by other consoles, and Sony's library of games includes some great mmos.

I was amazed when Sony showcased Indie games on their E3 2013 conference.. That was the first time that Game console Manufacturers committed themselves to full indie experience for their platform.

And of course no crap policies just like on MS, asking developer to pay $20,000 for every game updates for XBLA.

Way to much is being put on Indie games importance. There's like one gem out of 1000's for indie games. Not sure why all of a sudden this new gen, indie games are the talk.

Give me huge AAA games for these big bad boy consoles.

Its nice to have a choice, and as the indie games are independently produced, its not Luke they're taking any resources away from the AAA titles.
Personally, im looking forward to Hohokum as much as Killzone.

Well to answer your question there was no such thing as indie games until the PS4 came along.

it's "the talk" because big huge AAA games are a given, but they rarely bring anything new to the table and far too often play it safe with just bigger better things we've already seen. Indie games are something that is not only bringing new waves of innovation and creativity to the industry, but is also still a very new experience for consoles. Consoles have had indie games before in this gen, but only a very select few compared to PC leaving out some VERY great titles. Allowing this much indie support means we will actually get to play those 1 in 1000 gems unlike the many consoles missed already. Not only that but indie games are proving to many publishers and devs that there's still an audience for types of games they gave up on, games with difficulty, games requiring thought, games that don't have guns, games that try something new, and with more of them coming to consoles it'll be more apparent than ever and they will start to take note, meaning we will be seeing some fresh new ideas make their way to the bigger AAA titles.

I personally cannot wait to make(rookie game dev) and play games on PS4

There is that word again. If you can only find 1 indie game out of 1k then I am sorry for you.

Because of indie games like Journey and Walking Dead, which were serious Game of the Year contenders alongside titles that were much more expensive to produce. Other titles like Braid, Limbo, Flower, and Dead Nation can be added to that list as well, because even if they weren't talked about so much as GotY contenders, they were talked about and enjoyed by gamers and critics.

Personally, I played quite a few indie gems on my PS3. Those gems are the reason becoming a PS+ member isn't that big a deal to me, because many of them would have been included or discounted if I had been a member. Sony's push for indie games gives me great confidence that my PS+ membership will pay for itself and then some.

One person's gem is another's costume jewelry, but that's another subject. The bottom line is that indie games sold and reviewed well this generation.

cerny is great, INDIE push is over dramatic we care about the little guy push. Go watch a sundance flick, go play an INDIE game for 3 hours and be wowed, i am not spending 400-500 bucks on an indie title. triple AAA titles sell consoles, lets be real folks

Where do you think the likes of EA, Acti, Bioware, Bungie, Guerrilla, ND all came from?

At one point they were all indies, Sony taking these guys under it's nurturing wings is a good thing.

One day these indies might be the next ND or the next Bungie, they will bring us the next big IP or next big innovation.

Ya, maybe in 2030 they'll be established, and there's nothing wrong with them giving Indie devs chances... it's just there's really not that many good indie games in the first place. This whole generation there's been a handful of titles and trash dump full of sucky ones.

I just don't think indie games are what sell new next gen consoles.
