After next entry Saints Row to "continue in a different direction" | Gamereactor UK

GR-UK writes: "Is this the end of the Saints Row series as it currently stands? The design director revealed to us that the series may continue, but this particular strand will be concluding in Saints Row IV: "We're definitely considering Saints Row IV sort of the end of that saga of this character and the Saints as they are. So if there's any more future Saints Rows - which you know we always hope there will be, we hope there's fans for future games like that - they will probably continue in a different direction."

Well that's an understatement...

claud33959d ago

it's the same, with a crap direction

Or you could reboot it for next gen and actually stay true to what SR was all about.

SR4 looks awful, so bad that I think it's aimed at 11 year-old pre-pubescent children. That's what crosse my mind when I saw the trailer with aliens, super heroes, dance moves and ridiculous costumes. What's more? It's in the same city.

Mr_NUTS
oh yes, I completely forgot that this was originally supposed to be DLC. That is one of my problems, the other is that they have the nerve to release this just before the big boy: GTA:V as if they know their series is junk and won't sell after big boy V is out. Oh, I also find it a joke that they've changed the numbering into Roman numerals like GTA. I think they really want their joke of a game to beat GTA - it never will.

Further adding to the "this game is made for kids" argument just look at the name of the special edition: 'super wub wub edition'. Really?

Mr_Nuts3958d ago

You know why it's in the same city without any changes....because this is DLC and I wish more people would click onto that

It's glorified DLC they were going to sell but kept back because they knew new consoles were coming out and thought they would get one more retail game out because starting a true SR4 wouldn't be done in time.

CODallday3958d ago

These changes were made to make the series stand out instead of making a run of the mill gta clone.

Maybe they'll go back to the gangs and continue the true story from SR2.

Volition's Saints Row 4 PC upgrade was meant to be a make-good, but it broke the game instead

Remember this year's Saints Row(opens in new tab)? Volition would probably prefer that you didn't, which might go some way to explaining why the studio recently decided to upgrade everyone's copy of Saints Row 4(opens in new tab) to its full-fat Re-elected Edition, containing all the game's story and cosmetic DLC and even introducing cross-play between Steam, Epic, and GOG versions of the game.

Unfortunately, that upgrade seems to have backfired, and players now report a myriad of bugs with their new version of SR4. Both the Saints Row Steam forums(opens in new tab) and subreddit(opens in new tab) are filled with players complaining of broken saves, crashes, and mods failing to function. It's also received a few hundred negative Steam reviews(opens in new tab) since the update. If it's succeeded in washing the taste of Saints Row (2022) out of players' mouths, it's only because it tastes even worse.

I wonder if Volition's getting reorged under Gearbox impacted the quality of their release.

i can't help but laugh at this comment. Gearbox can't even run themselves.
