What's your must-have launch day title for PS4 or Xbox One?

Gamezone: "Let's put all the technical specifications and hardware debates aside for a second and talk about something we all really care about -- games. Yes, with all of the talk of DRM and always-connected, we forgot about the most important aspect of owning a console."

I'm leaning toward getting a PS4 over an Xbox One at launch. I would probably purchase the system with Killzone: Shadow Fall and that along with Planetside 2 and Driveclub PS+ should hold me over until Black Friday. On Black Friday, I would buy Watch Dogs, Battlefield 4, and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.

Too bad Infamous: Second Son isn't hitting until next year, it would be a definite day 1 purchase for me.

Abash3969d ago

Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack, DriveClub, and Watch_Dogs are all day one buys with my launch day PS4

PeaSFor3969d ago

getting KZ:SF, WatchDogs, COD:Ghost(also getting BF4..but on PC), all the F2P(also DriveClub+Edition) and thats about it for the launch day, will get more games in the following month/weeks

JohnnyBadfinger3969d ago

Waiting for whichever console has a bundle with bf4.
All other games can fuck off. Hopefully Xbox one but that being said if ps4 come out with a bf4 bundle ill buy that console.

JokesOnYou3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

X1 one for me. Forza5, Ryse, Killer Instinct debating Dead Rising 3 or Watch Dogs....eventually I'll play most all of them just some will have to wait.

Edit Johnny is the bundle that important? You don't save much on the bundles just buy whichever you want and then buy bf4.

3969d ago
crazyboom3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

Killzone Shadowfall for me as well with watchdogs, drive club, and battlefield 4.

Soldierone3969d ago

After playing BF3 again with all the spawn camping, I think I'm going to switch from BF4 to Killzone too....

greenpowerz3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

Forza 5
BF4
Project Spark(hope it's a launch title?)

These are my must haves. Any game with massive replay value and high production value are always my Must haves. I love big bang for you buck value

From the sounds of Ryse multiplayer it could easily join my list. Going to get Ryse anyways just need to see more for it to be a day one must buy.

BF4 and Forza 5 are pre ordered along with the console. Dead Rising 3 could join my list as well, along with KI.

abzdine3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

if i have to chose one it will be Killzone: Shadow Fall that thing looks stunning.

Otherwise i'm also getting Knack at launch and Drive Club PS+ edition will be FREE
of course F2P games like Wireframe will be available at launch as well exclusively

ShinMaster3969d ago

I'll end up playing most of its games on PC and/or PS4 anyway. Besides, why PAY MORE when I can get better hardware, better lifetime exclusives and a better subscription service for a better value. It's the smart choice without a question.

And as for launch games, Killzone: SF, Watch_Dogs, Drive Club. But my most anticipated "launch window" game is InFamous: SS
:)

papashango3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

I've got a launch day ps4 pre-ordered but there's no titles currently that interest me. Shadow Fall looks like a linear snooze fest.

Only one I can think of is Watch dogs but I'm clearly getting the pc version.

It's simply going to replace my media center pc until The Division, KH3, or FF15 come out.

More than likely picking up Madden and Nka2k till then

wastedcells3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

Ya killzone is my first play, but I will be playing watchdogs , AC blackflag and BF4 as well. DriveClub PS+ too, this will be a great launch, one of the best. Lots of games to play until Infamous which is a day one for me.

JohnnyBadfinger3969d ago

Don't send me links to American stores when they are pointless to me. Ultimately yes importing would save me money as the Aussie dollar has gone to shit again. However Sony has never been supportive of the Aussie market hence my choice in Microsoft. Sony seem to make up for their losses by flogging the extra cost onto the Aussies and new zealanders .

loulou3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

for my xbox, i will get on launch day. forza, ryse, cod, battlefield, killer instinct and either watch dogs or dead rising.

for the ps4 killzone and planetside

Ragthorn3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

OMG I WISH INFAMOUS: SECOND SON CAME AT LAUNCH, but I guess I'll have to wait cuz greatness takes time to make. I'm buying a PS4 after launch day, like maybe a week after just to see everybody's reactions, but if I were to but it on launch I would get: Killzone: Shadow Fall (IMO one of the best fps on the PS, and also cuz it stayed true to its roots without going to out of place), Knack (cuz it looks so fun and cute lol...) DriveClub (PS PLUS FTW), and Watch Dogs (if it doesn't come to PC, don't know if it is).

NukaCola3969d ago

PS4 day one with KZ, Watch Dogs and Black Flag, plus all the PS+. Probably gonna spend a lot of the first days just messing around with interface and just getting immersed in the whole thing.

BattleAxe3969d ago

My PS4 launch day title will be BF4 for PC.

nukeitall3969d ago

What? Nobody wants CoD?

Want CoD, Watchdog, Ryse and Project Spark!

BF4 looks interesting, but burned myself on BF3 campaign so not sure. Same thing with KillZone 3, but interrested in Shadow Fall. We willmsee.

Titanfalls looks amazing so day one as soon as it is released as well as Quantum Break.

A Kinect game is must and hoping for a UFC Trainer game or some other fitness game plus an awesome party game with the family.

Not your typical core gamer, eh? That's ok, I don't have time to play them.

Boody-Bandit3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

Assassins Creed BF
Battlefield 4
Drive Club (PS+ version)
Killzone Shadow Fall
Knack
Need 4 Speed
Watch Dogs

^These will keep me more than busy enough while waiting on Infamous Second Son (Q1 2014)

quantae063968d ago

@Ragthorn What?!? I thought Infamous Second Son would be at launch. Well, I guess I'll wait until it comes out to buy a PS4.

T23968d ago

@soldierone - I love killzone but I have been playing kz3 and some of the maps are horrendous for spawn trapping ... Kz2 was much better and I hope they address this ...
Bf3 does have some spawn camping but the centuron AA guns are a good start in negating this ... I would put more gun placements in to defend bases and hopefully they do this ... Worse case scenario just drop out of servers and only join those that even out teams... The other day I was banned from a server for destroying tanks with the jet when they were shooting into our base with tanks ... This is the lowest of the low, avoid servers like that its a joke.

KZ Shadow Fall will be my big game, and I'll keep an eye on the others like Knack and Driveclub. I'm more interested in seeing the Vita Remote Play in action and also checking out the indie titles that are available for PS4 at launch.

Oschino19073968d ago

Same here for the most part, really want to get a Vita by launch but only if there is a price drop or new model/bundle announced.

I have a feeling this gen will start the same way the previous ended, PS+ and new games will have me overwhelemed and having oddly TOO MANY great games and not enough time to play them all.

LackTrue4K3969d ago

on the ps4 (witch i am getting)
Kill-zone/battlefield and Drivers club

if i was to ever get a Xbox one, it would have to be its exclusives...Titans fall or Killer Instinct....but fighting games dont hold too much dept to me.

Ragthorn3969d ago

Titan Fall will come to PC aswell, so its only a timed exclusive (typical Microsoft), so if you wanna get it real bad than just get the PC version. Just a suggestion don't know if you can run it. :)

andibandit3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

But you would do right to get it on xbox since the developer said the xbox version will be superior

RedHawkX3969d ago

infamous is gonna hit in january/ febuary next year which will be right after you get your tax refunds so thats good and a nice time to come out. your cash will be replenished in the bank and the games you got from the holidays will be beaten by then to.

MizTv3969d ago

I was told infamous is a launch game

Campy da Camper3969d ago

I wish. That is my most anticipated next gen game...that and that tom Clancy one with the guys running through new York with assault rifles lol

maniacmayhem3969d ago

I'm still on the fence with both systems. But I am leaning towards the Xbox One.

For now I'll be rocking the current systems.

Watchdogs looks interesting but I will probably wait until both systems have a good number of games available.

Imalwaysright3969d ago

Im going to wait too and let the others beta test the hardware for me. I have huge backlog of games so I'm in no hurry.

greenlantern28143969d ago

Yeah kinda sucks we have to wait for infamous.
KZ, watchdogs, BF4, knack. Gonna get some of the free games off psn as well.

tuglu_pati3969d ago

X1: Forza 5, Titanfall.
PS4: Killzone:SF,

Multiplataform: I will buy the best console versions (PS4 or X1) BF4, Watch DOgs.

MYSTERIO3603968d ago

You do know that titanfall isn't a launch game right? Its coming out sometime next year

snipab8t3969d ago

Watchdogs is probably the most interesting next-gen game for me. Does anyone here know when The Division is being released?

Name Last Name3969d ago

I won't get a next gen console until one of the following comes out: MGS5, FF15, The Division, Destiny.

oof463969d ago

Planetside 2. I'll just have to buy the console and then download that bad boy.

AngelicIceDiamond3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

For PS4 It would be Driver Club, Killzone and infamous (when its released) and Watchdogs, Planetside 2 and DCUO.

For X1 it will have to be Ryse, KI, Project Spark Loco Cycle, Deadrising, Titanfall (when its released). Skipping Forza just because I don't like circuit racing. I like free Roam racing similar to TestDrive unlimited And Driver Club reminds me of that.

Destiny I might pick up for X1 though, not sure.

When I buy the consoles those are the games I want. those are my gaming goals. It'll be hard, but I'll try.

Thomper3969d ago

Go you ! For loco cycle!!

nosferatuzodd3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

Killzone shadowfall for me and knack and I like the witness getting drive club
Until gt7 comes out oh and planet side 2 yeah! then later it's infamous SS
and what ever new exclusive Sony do

Relientk773969d ago

Black Friday, not a bad idea, for more games

can buy some good ones online for cheap that day

ZombieKiller3969d ago

I wasn't too keen on all the launch titles. As a matter of fact, the only ones I want are Battlefield 4 (seriously FUCK call of duty, it crashed my ps3 twice and won't TOUCH my ps4) and Killer Instinct (a fan of the original since childhood)...

Launch titles aren't anything special to me, its the potential the system has that I go for. I'm getting a ps4 at launch to get to know the system ins and outs. Until then I'll play my ps3. It has GTA V, Arkham Origins, and Splinter Cell all towards the launch date. I wish my ps4 was backwards compatible though. :(

Tapewurm3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

Pre-Ordered PS4, extra controller, and the eye with the following games Killzone, DriveClub (full version...yeah it is different from the plus version)and Knack...picking up Infamous 2nd Son and Destiny when they drop as well.....

The only XboxOne title I am interested in at all is TitanFall and I hope it's exclusivity is limited.... if it never comes to PS4 I will probably grab it on PC.

Muffins12233968d ago

If i where to get both:

Ps4:Knack

Xbox one: Dead rising 3

That and BF4 are all i have paid off on pre-orders for now.WIll pick up Knack to support cerny sometime soon after.

Also hyped for Warframe (F2P at launch) and Outlast looks soooo good (free at launch with PS+) Driveclub PS+ edition too!

Can't wait.

Enemy3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

Killzone: Shadow Fall, DriveClub, Knack, Watch_Dogs, Battlefield 4, NFS, Assassin's Creed.

snipab8t3969d ago

Can I have a branch or your money tree please?

Crazyglues3969d ago (Edited 3969d ago )

I would give you a branch from my money tree but once I did, I would have to kill you..

-Because once people see that money really does grow on tress and you can plant one in your back yard, then everyone is going to want one. -And we just can't have everyone doing it- ..LoL

-Day One-
Battlefield 3, WatchDogs, Driveclub (maybe, going to check it out first on Plus) ACIV -Black Flag (maybe I need to see more not impressed yet, gameplay didn't look that impressive for a PS4 title..imo)

-Day One- Whenever they come out in -(2014)
Destiny, The Division, Uncharted 4, Infamous-Second Son, MGS-V The Phantom Pain

.____........___...
.____||......||.......|___||
||.........___||............ ||

Smoovekid3969d ago

BF4,KZ:SF, Knack, and Watchdogs.

I will probably download all of the F2P games :).Definitely Planetside 2.

There won't be no more acquiring game publishers from Microsoft in the future . Xbox has to pay Microsoft back. It might take two decades to do that.

sagapo15h ago(Edited 15h ago)

I don’t understand what you’re saying. Xbox IS microsoft so there’s no “paying back “.
And MS gross profit in 2023 was over 140 billion dollars so forget your 2 decades.

Unless you mean the money MS invested in Xbox (acquisitions included) and the time it will take for xbox as a brand to gain that money back on it’s own, then yeah, that could take a while.

romulus238h ago

The better term to use might be return on investment, xbox is simply a division of Microsoft one that MS can easily do away with if profit margins are not met. So in that regard he's right, if xbox isn't showing the expected return on investment the higher ups are expecting than it's unlikely Microsoft will acquire any other studios any time soon, especially if they are spending billions buying developers just to shut them down in the end.

MrBaskerville1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Xbox is a division that they discussed shutting down but doubled down on after Gamepass was pitched.

It needs to make money at some point. Big money.

SonyStyled14h ago

There really needs to be a class action lawsuit here. You buy these companies just to put people out of jobs. And it’s not like something happened to derail their plans this WAS the plan. Microsoft has no business in this space at all.

franwex17h ago(Edited 17h ago)

Microsoft has been doing this for years. They simply want the IPs. Look at Nokia. Look at Skype. This time it simply expanded to games. Gaming is not as important to Microsoft’s executives as it was to the founders too. Bill Gates was willing to sell the og Xbox at a loss. Steve Balmer approved the red ring of death fiasco. This CEO isn’t really a gamer.

-Foxtrot17h ago

Maybe it's time though to put a stop to it and use a big giant like Microsoft as a huge example to the rest of these big companies.

There has to be a line drawn somewhere.

People like the FTC and the like went against Microsoft yet their Actvision deal was still allowed to go through yet look what's happened...it's not even Acitivisions studios aswell, it's Bethesdas.

RNTody17h ago

Ninja Theory, Perfect Dark, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Wolfenstein 3, Dishonored, Prey, Doom, Quake... something tells me that bad things are going to happen to these entities under Microsoft.

MrDead7h ago

ID software, the makers of Doom and Wolfenstein that have been with us since 1991 could be gone and MS will keep the IPs.

I hope some of these studios can buy their freedom from MS otherwise this is going to be even more devastating for the industry and gamers.

Yui_Suzumiya4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

That's exactly what I'm worried about. I've been a fan of id since Wolfenstein 3D and I'm honestly afraid.

lodossrage26m ago

Toys for Bob saw the writing on the wall and bought themselves out.

Wouldn't be the first time a company did that under MS either. Bungie and Twisted Pixel did the same. Considering what just happened, I can see some other devs trying to buy themselves out too.

anast16h ago

Good thing the bosses of all those small studios made their money.

glenn197916h ago

they cant do it right now they will get burned

lodossrage24m ago(Edited 24m ago)

Won't make a difference.

The whole structure needs to be overhauled. Anyone that replaces Phil will be no different than him, Mattrick, or anyone else.

Until the company changes how they go about business, nothing will change

lodossrage22m ago

True,

But they may as well get it over with. Whether it happens now or later, the burning is going to hit the same.

Reality is the ONE move that can alleviate a lot of this is the one move they can't make. Remove day 1 from gamepass.

Microsoft Opening Xbox Mobile Game Store in July

The Xbox brand is expanding, as an Xbox mobile game store is opening this coming July where Microsoft will brings its "first-party portfolio."

The only this MS is expanding is the amount of feculence it sprays on everyone who just want to enjoy gaming and make games.

The best thing MS can do for the gaming industry is leave and never return.

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga1d 19h ago (Edited 1d 19h ago )

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow2d ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo1821d 18h ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie1d 8h ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow1d 7h ago (Edited 1d 7h ago )

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

Hereandthere23h ago

Xbox executive Sara Bond has told Axios that Microsoft spent a number of years trying to get MLB The Show onto Xbox consoles. And when it finally succeeded in breaking off PlayStation’s long-held exclusivity, the company had to “trust” Sony with pre-release Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Bond revealed that MLB The Show “always came up” in conversations between Microsoft and the Major League Baseball organization. “We always said, ‘We love this game. It would be a huge opportunity to bring it to Xbox.'” she recalled. However, when Microsoft’s efforts materialized, it put the company in an awkward situation where it had to send in pre-release consoles to a rival company.

Lying to yourself is unbecoming.

Article link tells you all you need to know in Sarah Bond's own words.

Hereandthere23h ago

They were too cheap/inept/lazy to develop their own mlb game, so they port begged for years and bribed the mlb to make the show multiplatform. Like i said many times, xbox brought nothing to the table their 24 years, ZERO.

ApocalypseShadow9h ago

At least you and others get it. Note drank the Kool aid and asked for seconds thinking it was refreshing.

Most don't even know how it all played out but it's there in black and white for all to see. Microsoft brought it up for years until the MLB forced Sony's hand. It was a win win for Microsoft. Kill one reason to buy a PlayStation or kill the game by dropping it in a cheap service to kill Sony's sales numbers on PlayStation.

OtterX1d 21h ago

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

Cockney4h ago

They chose well, Sony gave them the backing to pursue their dreams with no restrictions even tho their games especially dreams have very niche appeal. Media molecule and Sony deserve respect for this in an age of risk averse publishing.

RNTody1d 20h ago (Edited 1d 20h ago )

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno1d 20h ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Sheppard7t31d 18h ago

How did Sony kill the series?

Inverno1d 18h ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.

1d 3h ago
fsfsxii1d 4h ago

They shutdown the servers because no one was playing, no one in the community cared about the user created levels so why keep them up? Wtf you guys would never succeed in running a business.

Inverno1d 3h ago

Yea dood no one was playing so they shut off the servers. Cause people with enough common sense can't just Google why they were actually shut of, right?
