My i4 4670k cooled by an h100 (thermalpaste is prolimatech pk2) is oced to 4.2ghz on 1.1 volts and it only runs at 55C with prime 95 running for 1 hour. I do have an excellent motherboard (Msi mpower max) and I got one of the few chips that can do 5ghz at about 1.25 volts :D
I have an 2500k, love it. @ 4.4ghz is plenty.
I could increase volts, and go higher, but there's really no need. Once you hit the brickwall GPU wise it does not matter.
