With the first round of announcements behind us, the only thing that’s clear in the inevitable and perpetual Xbox One vs. PlayStation 4 battle is that there is no clear winner.

I'm rather interested to find out the clock speeds of all the hardware.

It's easy to throw numbers out there like 8-core, 500gb, 8gb etc., as those look impressive to gamers who aren't aware of the ghz and read/write speeds.

Also am I the only one disappointed with he Wi-Fi n?
All new devices should come with Wi-Fi ac! (specially media devices).

The only thing I got out of this article is the author's lack of knowledge of terminology. GDDR5 is found in the GPU for processing the graphics of whatever you are doing. DDR3 is the core system memory which allows the system to perform tasks.

On the PS4 the GDDR5 is both the graphics and system memory. This unified memory architecture eliminates the need to copy data between the CPU and GPU memory systems since they use the same memory.

Digital foundry thanks to the Wired and some sleuthing through Microsoft's deliberate attempt at being ambiguous with specs have confirmed more or less the specs of the Xbox One and it comes in right on the Money, the PS4 and the Xbox One has the same CPU cores but the PS4 GPU is more powerful... have a read, its pretty insightful!

thanks to the Wired and ofcourse Digital Foundry's sleuthing through MS's ambiguous PR babble and cherry picked facts... For anyone that wants a look at should take a read at this... It more or less confirms whats in the box of the XBOX One and how well it stacks up to the PS4, and sheds light on why MS took the Ninty approach and with not really specifying specs and simply glossing over the sensationalized points, like "5 Billion transistors" and "8 core CPU Custom Microsoft CPU"... its pretty insightful

How are rumored, inaccurate specs proof of anything other than your inability to conjure a logical argument? It's pretty clear that the One has an inferior GPU, slower RAM (and less of it available for games) and an architecture that will be harder to exploit. There's no way out of this, the new Xbox is underpowered and more difficult to program for. PS4 will look and play better. Deal with it.

Cool, Sony fans can continue to beat their chest in triumph! My question would be, will third parties develop on the less powerful Xbox One, and port it over to the PS4? That would be easiest, and that is traditionally how developers work, since it's easier to just port it, rather than re-work it for a separate console.

Just something to think about, and I actually believe both will be pretty stunning in the games department.

Did the 3RD party developer's and publisher's already do that this generation cycle? and the performance hit was shown on the PS3 because those 3rd party game engines were not made for the PS3 system design.

This time the PS4 does not have that problem. So it will come down to custom tool chains, and who do you think makes custom tool chains just like Microsoft does for the xbox platform , Sony's 1st party internal studios do for playstation's. And as it is now many see the results of these tool chains with Naughty Dog,guerrilla games and since its the same type of chipsets that the PC uses as its a x86 means that Sony's not at a Hard to code for development platform.

I never said anything about first party studios, but it's more than clear third party developers wont have 2 different teams developing one for Xbox One and one for PS4, so the logical thing would to think most games will be developed on the less powerful system, and ported.

I'm not saying the PS4 will get inferior games this generation like last, I'm saying they wont get taken full advantage of, sort of how the original Xbox never got taken advantage of, even though it was vastly more powerful than the PS2, because they would develop on PS2, and port it.

As game development takes place on PC (and many games find their home there) it may actually be the other way around, as the PS4's architecture is closer to that of a PC than the One. Something similar happened with PS360, but with opposite positions being filled.

Really ? from what I remember games like Splinter Cell were like night and day, especially Chaos Theory, virtually every multiplat looked and ran noticeably better on the original xbox and even still, so what ?games like Halo, Butcher Bay, Ninja Gaiden, Doom 3, Far Cry were enough to prove the power of the Original Xbox, in the end it always boils down to the excusives, exclusives have and always will be the best looking games on a console, your argument is mute.

The PS4 and Xbox One both use x64 achitecture, so even if developers ported their games(Ubisoft wont) to the PS4 from the Xbox One, games will still look better on the PS4. PS4 is like a Titan, the One is like a 680. Same game, same PC, but better graphics on the hardware that is more powerful, this being the PS4.

Why do Console only gamers even make a huge deal out of specs, I buy consoles for amazing exclusives, which obviously Sony beats MS in that category, but as for specs they both look like baby toys compared to PC.
