Video Feature: Designing Infamous Second Son

In addition to taking the leap to the next console generation, the developers at Sucker Punch Productions are exploring within the Infamous universe by putting players in charge of a new protagonist named Delsin Rowe. Armed with smoke-controlling powers in the open-world environment of Seattle, Delsin's introduction to players is assisted by Sucker Punch's new designer (formerly of Bungie) named Jaime Griesemer.

Love how Nate Fox mentions chain link fences when talking about stuff Delsin can easily traverse, because they were Cole's arch nemesis in Infamous 1.

What is wrong with people? Can I ask how everyone in the world knew that every Conduit died? Did they go to every corner of the globe and ask 'Did your Conduit die?'. When there is a global plague does everyone die? How does anyone know Conduits didn't resist the device or managed to survive it? Everywhere I go in the comments people keep saying 'I though all the Conduits died'. Think about it. How did the ENTIRE world know that every Conduit in the world was dead? Did they speed around the world asking 8 billion people if all the Conduits were dead? Of course the news would only report the deaths they know about but what about people who live away from society or hiding from others?

Obviously all the Conduits didn't die or they wouldn't be trying to police them now.Plus no one ever said that new Conduits could never be born again.Cole used a machine with no grantee that it would kill every Conduit in the world. In fact the very concept that Cole could stand in one place and the device reaching every single corner of globe is not plausible anyway.

FrostyZipper4006d ago

Well duh it's implausible, it's a bleeding video game about people who can shoot electricity from their fingertips (which, somehow, also stops him breaking every bone in his body and rupturing every organ when dropping from great heights) and transform into smoke clouds, launching said smoke like projectiles capable of lethal harm.

Cole's heroic sacrifice in Infamous 2 killed everyone with the Conduit Gene, regardless of whether or not they had awakened their powers. What I'm banking on with Second Son is that someone's found a way to artificially create Conduits via another Ray Sphere, thereby giving anyone powers who wants them. Or that's one theory anyway.

smashcrashbash4006d ago

That is not what I mean. Having someone with powers and plausibility is two different things.Just because you make up a story with a guy that can shoot lighting out of his hands doesn't mean you just can write any nonsense and it will suffice.Even when you are writing fiction you have to keep an element of sense or your just writing nonsense. Like I said NO ONE said all Conduits died and no one said no Conduit could ever be born again. If the Mayor of the city could mass produce Conduits I don't see why anyone else can't do the same thing.

@smashcrashbash: Ah, sorry. I appear to have misinterpreted your original post entirely.

N4OGs4006d ago

yeah i agree they can just make another ray sphere or conduits could of been immune to whatever the things that could kill them was. didnt they say another explosion happend and deslin pulling people from a wreckage realised he had some powers or something somewhere. seems like what happend to cole is happening again.

Skate-AK4006d ago

Oh that's cool. Didn't know they got a designer from Bungie.

100%, locked 60fps and still look great all these years later, same with the expansion, definitely worth a look if people haven't played it yet, not the best games ever made but a good experience, hopefully a new infamous gets released

KwietStorm_BLM105d ago

Never was my favorite infamous, but it was definitely a graphics showcase early on PS4. Still plays well with the unlocked frame rate.

SDuck104d ago

Still remember getting hyped about this game nearing release. Funny because I never even got a PS4. Jumped from PS3 to PC so I never played it ahahaha

OmegaSoldati104d ago

Its a good game. But thats it. Congratulations you made the best choice. I dream to have a great PC one day.

Profchaos104d ago (Edited 104d ago )

Graphically It's a absolutely stunning game that still holds up today.

Didn't have all that much depth to it forcing you to play though twice for a platinum trophy a good and bad run it was a little disappointing how similar those were Delsin would be like I'm not doing that for you in a cutscene but the cutscene would play out and force you to do it anyway just as you would of in a good run

I did like the story however it got a lot of complaints back in the day people hated playing as Delsin instead of cole despite Coles story being wrapped up.

Overall though the map wasn't overly saturated with useless points of interest there was some collectibles and things to find but nothing compared to a Ubisoft game.

I think it was a good game if a little hollow I've played it through around 4 times now since it's so short.

Also it's DLC was great a full story expansion

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

banger88136d ago

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183135d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

persona4chie135d ago

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.
