Five PS3 Exclusives We Wish Weren't PS3 Exclusives

With the announcement this week that Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection isn’t coming to the Xbox 360, we started thinking about titles that we wished had made the jump to Microsoft’s platform. We came up with a list as long as your arm, that spanned several consoles but in the end, the Xbox 360’s natural closest competitor seemed to be the obvious one to focus on.

So in this week’s Friday Five, we’re covering the five PS3 exclusive titles that we wish weren’t PS3 exclusive titles...

The difference is that Xbox exclusives sometimes stop being exclusives (Dead Rising, Mass Effect, etc.), while Sony's don't.

Metal Gear? that was on the MSX2 back in 1987, Final Fantasy started out on the NES in 1990 (in the US) and the SNES in 1991.. also Tekken was released on the GBA in 2001.

I'm also taking individual games in to consideration, barb_wire. Not many people were saying "Final Fantasy 13 going to 360 doesn't matter... it was a Nintendo franchise back in the day". PS3 fans were furious because they lost an exclusive. 360 had a numbered FF game before that too, but 13 was a killer blow at the time.

Metal Gear Solid games normally get announced as exclusives, but move to other platforms. (Regardless of where the series originated)

I don't see Ar Tonelico 1-3, Disgaea, Yakuza 1-5 & three spin-off, Tales of Xillia, Valkyria Chronicles 1-3, MGS 4, Persona 1-4 (not to be confuse with P4 Arena the fighting game), One Piece: Pirate Warrior, Dark Cloud, Wild Arms, etc, are making an appearance in xbox or nintendo console.

God of war series. Uncharted series. motorstorm series. resistance series. LBP series. gran turismo series. Yakuza series. Infamous series... argh so many other exclusives series are never gonna appear on any other platform.

Gamertime is right. Those games were exclusive. Sony themselves said 3rd party exclusives would die out so they built the infrastructure to develop their own.. you can disagree with gamertime but by doing that you're disagreeing with Sony themselves. Many of those games, as we know them, were only on sonys platform but aren't now.

I don't even think its luxury to own all 3 systems by now. They have got down in price a lot from launch and have sales here and there. If you want to play these games, buy a PS3. Same thing vice-versa.

The thing is KMxRetro, I understand you've got to produce content for your site. But you've already got 2 PS3s so why bother submitting this article?

Games are exclusive for many reasons and wishing for them is redundant and only causes frustration. Write an article like "5 PS3 exclusives worth getting a PS3 for" cause that is the only solution to longing for these games to perhaps come to Xbox at some point.

Then work for a month and a half, save up and get one. It's what people do in the real world. Unless bills and rent are your priorities, for which I could understand, but PS3 isn't the console for rich people who can afford it - I worked for it and saved up for it. Simple as that. Nothing ignorant or snobbish about that. If you want something, you'll work for it.

I prefer Dark Souls over Demon's Souls, which is already on 360. While MGS 4 was a good game, I liked 3 better. So if I had to choose PS Exclusives, #1 would be easily Heavy Rain. Then probably LittleBigPlanet. I love creative games and when I owned a PS3, the community made some really amazing stuff I'm glad I didn't miss out on.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I don't know a single 360 owner that wouldn't be money ahead had they just bought the "more expensive" ps3 instead. When I see articles like this it makes me hope they learned a lesson this gen and at least pick up the next Playstation for all the great exclusives, not to mention the consumer friendly stance Sony takes with its systems.

I don't get these silly articles either. These games are exclusive because Sony made them exclusive so wishing they are on your console is a null and void statement to make. Just get the console or shud it.

At least it's not quite as bad as the people who ask why Uncharted or The Last of Us are not on their platform of choice to begin with, as if Naughty Dog haven't been making exclusive games for Sony for the past 10 years. I just want to reply, "because the platform you chose doesn't have people behind it who care about creating those types of games".

I think that is what I would go for. Perhaps switching God of War to Killzone2 would be a good idea because of live. Anyway, 5 games I want from the Xbox on my PS3.

If I only owned an Xbox 360 I'd want:

1. God of War III (genre defining, universally acclaimed)

2. LittleBigPlanet (genre defining... sod Mario, universally acclaimed)

3. Uncharted 2 (genre defining, universally acclaimed)

4. Heavy Rain (genre defining, very well received)

5. Gran Turismo 5 (genre defining (you're awesome too Forza) and well recieved, probably would be acclaimed at its current state)

(I expect switches later this year, UC2 with TLoU & Heavy Rain with Beyond Two Souls).

Demon Souls, MGS4, Killzone 2, Infamous, Ratchet and Clank are other enticing games.

I love the Gears series, but I think its time has past, sadly. Gears 2 was my favorite in the series. The third game seemed to go back to the pointless firefights of the first game. :/ Judgment wasn't my cup of tea.

I'd love to see the awesome Yakuza series go multiplat, so Xbox only gamers could also enjoy some of the best writing in games combined with some of the most satisfying gameplay.

Also the boost in sales could help secure all future titles a place in US markets

Turning the fanboy war into reality, by having cross-platform MAG, where 360s are forced to be on one side, and PS3s on another, would have made MAG even better than it already was.

Agreed. However, it's simply not something the companies would be willing to do.

I think MAG should release as a Free To Play download on the PSN, including all DLC. Players who have already logged hours into it will get exclusive skins to show that they're veterans. It would boost the game's community into the tens of thousands, at least. That's enough for some amazing 256 battles before the game goes extinct. Even better...upgrade it for the PS4 and release it this way during a slow release week before Christmas or soon after the holidays. ;) You're welcome, Sony.

i can think of 5-10 more games im sure xboxers wish werent PS exclusives.. But PS has the largest variety of software choices on the market so what can you do? BUY ONE or rent it at a local shop along with the games you wanna play..

Whoever choses to adopt MS nx gen will run into this same issue but it might be even worse.. Im sure theres going to be MAAAAAANY more devs working with sony nx gen than this one.. Indies, AAA Juggernauts, mid levelers, etc.. PS4 is receiving a lot of positive feedback from both publisher/developers & consumers..

Wonderful list. Journey and Hard Rain are titles that pop in my mind when I think exclusive and unique gaming experiences only on the PS.

On the other hand, the one game I wish would come out on the PS that's 360/PC exclusives is Left 4 Dead. I have it on both systems and I would love to experience it with my PS friends.

I would have liked to have seen MGS4 on the 360 at some point, just so that those Metal Gear fans who own a 360 and can't afford a second console wouldn't miss out. Regardless of what one thinks of the game, there are a ton of moments in there that are just plain awesome for a fan of the series.

The ICO collection would have been nice, if only to expose more people who are just getting into gaming this generation to one of the greatest games from the last.

I think XBL regulars would get a kick out of some of the more online based games that could benefit from LIVE parties, communities and tournys. Like MAG (256 players) Starhawk (build 'n' battle) and DC Universe (MMOAG).

those games?...REALLY....I own both systems but i mainly play on my 360...as an xbox mainly gamer non of those games really appeal to me...but if i had to choose it would be god of war DC universe online an MGS4...dont like KZ...dont like RFOM didnt like warhawk....an im not into RPG's...so maybe thats why my PS3's really didnt get much use this gen...an im sad to announce that my fat 60 gig ps3 i bought at launch finally died...thats the first of my 3 PS3's to die compared to about 5 360's..lol

ICO could've used the processing power of the X360. It would've been beautiful. Also, I think LittleBigPlanet and ModNationRacer would've KILLED if they had XBOX LIVE to feed off of. Still, I like that consoles have exclusives. It gives us gamers more incentives to own both consoles which helps the industry as a whole.

Other than that, the games I´d want on PS3 is Fez, Forza Horizon and Minecraft. Mass Effect thankfully made it eventually.

Ok the xbox has been about for quite a while and I must say its a good console but the xbox and PC has a great number of games like minecraft and fez these will come to the ps3 or ps4 in time but to get these you have to have a decent PC or a xbox 360....don't get me wrong I have a ps3 and I play on my bros xbox 360 for games that are better like devil may cry and i have mass effect 1-2(i got the ps3 collection afterwards), gears of war 1-2 and halo 3 but I stick to ps3 because its the console i payed 630€ for and i knew it would do good while alot of people who thought it was stupid but like it now since they got to expeince what I felt when it bought a ps3.... also you can NEVER be sure of the video game market hell i might be regetting my words and end up buying a xbox infinity next gen after buying a ps4.
