Have You got an Embarrassing Gaming Backlog?

Liam Pritchard of Brash Games writes "The sad truth is that we do not get time to indulge in our favourite button mashing past-time, usually due to niggling details like jobs, families, children etc… As a result, the backlog is born. Not everyone will have an enormous backlog, as they may have had the sense to stop buying games the moment they knew they wouldn’t have enough time to play them".

i wouldn't say embarrassing but I myself am getting a large backlog. I have around 7-8 fighting games and 8 adventure, hack and slash, FPS games all on ps3. I barely finished half of all my games since i don't have time to really put in hours to complete them but yet a game gets announced and I'm there day 1 at a game store to buy it lol, games....

shammgod4072d ago

Same dilemma here. When I was young, I had all the time in the world to play video games, but no money to buy them. Now I have money to buy them, but no time to play them.

knowyourstuff4072d ago

How about you buy them when they're cheap and work on finishing your backlog of games before paying 60 bucks for a new one that will be 20 bucks by the time you even get to it? This is the only reason to be embarrassed. Having a life outside of gaming is something you should at least be proud of - that you aren't stuck inside all day playing games, you're actually experiencing real life.

@knowyourstuff:
I wish I could be that disciplined, but it just feels to good owning a great game on release day, and feeling like you're discovering the game at the same time as everyone else.

ACIII, Dark Souls, Jak & Daxter HD collection, Hitman HD collection, Hitman Absolution, the list goes on. It really bugs me seeing my backlog when I'm something of a completionist...kills me inside.

WilliamH4072d ago

Those HD collections are a bitch to get through, too much game.

I too have the Hitman trilogy to do and I aim to Platinum them all. Contracts is easy because I SA'd the hardest level on Pro, Beldongford Manor which makes it a fairly smooth ride from herein. On the other hand, Hitman 2 is ******* hard on Pro, I think I can only do expert mode. Blood money SEEMS easy but getting SA is really strange as I always seem to gets 'Professional' rating instead.

In addition to Hitman Hd I have: Ratchet & Clank Trilogy, AC3, AC3:L, Fallout 3:GOTY, FarCry 3, FALLOUT NV:UE and Silent Hill: Downpour.

Mutant-Spud4072d ago (Edited 4072d ago )

There's nothing wrong with collecting just for the sake of it either, I have about a thousand CD's and a couple of hundred LP's, some of them I listened to once and some I just bought because they were rare or limited editions and never listened to. Same with comics and books, I've got thousands of them and I read maybe two or three books a year.

@Mutant-spud collecting is a purpose among me having that many games including other related things etc etc

@pandaboy, nothing here was pirated sorry pal

Wagz224072d ago

@pandaboy man good thing you do that, that why all the those pirated games that you enjoyed wont get the money to fund sequels or other projects… I don't mind pirating crappy games (Aliens *cough*) but to pirate ALL games even good ones that deserve the money is a little messed up.

30 games, lol. I keep buying games but i dont have enough time to finish them, lol. Hopefully i can finish a bunch during the summer.

ASTAROTH4072d ago (Edited 4072d ago )

250 PS3 games. . . thats without counting my PSN games, my 360 games, my Vita and my Wii. That was the main reason I didnt bought the Wii U. Half of those 250 games are even brand new sealed. My God Im really feels ashamed but I have more games than time to play them. LOL!

DEATHxTHExKIDx4072d ago

After I started college I noticed I didnt have as much time.
I havent finished:
Star Ocean:TLH
FFIV:The after years.
Red dead redemption.

grailly4072d ago

you should really finish RDR, it's one of the only games that has a really good ending.

jjb19814072d ago

I have a huge backlog due to the fact that I feel obligated to play the multiplayer portion before the community dies down due to a call of duty release or some other triple A title. I still haven't finished fallout 3, dark souls or metal gear solid 4. I know, shame on me. I still own these games as well as 50+ games on steam that I haven't even started. My backlog is exceptional as well as embarrassing because you would think I would just finish them. Because of time constraints and an 11 month old son I am unable to enjoy these games to the fullest however I have learned to stick with finishing one game at a time. I am enjoying the hell out of far cry 3 whenever my responsibilities are taken care of.

Mutant-Spud4072d ago

Yeah, I know what that's like, you see something on Steam that's 75% off and think "Man I've always wanted to play that... and it's only $5.99! (squeal!)"
My kids are (a) older and (b) girls and I've tried to rope them into playing splitscreen or co-op but they're really not interested. I've even suggested to my wife that we play WOW or EVE together but she'd rather play Farmville with her friends..(sniffle) :(

grailly4072d ago

for a long time I've been really good at playing all my games, some I didn't finish, but at least I would have got a lot out of the experience. recently, though, I've started gathering many games I've never even launched, damn you PS+ and steam sales!

Mutant-Spud4072d ago

I've got a couple of games on Steam that I've hardly touched, Hearts Of Iron III, X3 Albion Prelude and Endless Space but the 360 "pile of shame" is pretty low at the moment, I'm still plodding my way through Skyrim and Battlefield 3 multiplayer but aside from a couple of bargain bin purchases nothing is sitting there reminding me that it cost fifty dollars and hasn't been opened yet.

Review - The Hungry Lamb: Traveling in the Late Ming Dynasty (PC) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Oliver Shellding: "I feel The Hungry Lamb is for a specific audience, though I can’t quite align with whom that might be. It’s not thrilling enough to land in constant VN recommendations, it’s got uncomfortable relationships which will put most people off, and the endings never hit the high note that satisfies everything. The twists are pretty recognizable from a distance, the voice acting is good, the character designs are alright and the pacing is decent. So many things rubbed me the wrong way and it makes it very easy to delete it from my PC concluding the review. Dive in if you must because of morbid fascination, but you’ve been cautioned: it’s a downward spiral without anything to make the trip worthwhile."
