PCG:Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a complete overhaul of Square Enix’s much maligned MMO, FFXIV – and, by crikey, it needed it. No one is more convinced of this than A Realm Reborn game director Naoki Yoshida, who I’ve conveniently just interviewed using a box which captures changes in light and sound across time, as you will see after the jump. He doesn’t pull his punches: “We took our fanbase for granted,” he says. “We lacked the knowledge of the global standard for MMOs, the knowledge of other titles. We didn’t have the heart, the spirit or the passion to challenge the market.”
Final Fantasy XIV fans can now properly benchmark their PCs and check out some of what's coming to their game this summer.

The Xbox profanity filter is currently ruining the readability of the FFXIV chat on Xbox Series X/S due to censored words.
Lol, damn... At this point, they were better off keeping FF XIV away from Xbox. It has been nothing but obstacle, after obstacle.
I'm not convinced this is the profanity filter. It doesn't make sense to censor words like class, harvest and dance. It seems to be a bug.
Yeah these new fangled filters are going a bit too far. I have a game that filters "wtf". It's a censor for a self-censoring phrase. But I think overall it's how it should be. If you don't want certain language being used in your game by your player base, then it's up to you to filter/ censor the language you don't want. I can respect that. What I can't respect is when you say things that are not really offensive then you get ostracized for it.
This is completely false, I tested this on my son's child account and mine, this is not Microsoft censoring they will censor swears but not the combination of letters I can prove this with a screenshot where I use all mentioned words in the article but do not know how to upload a picture.
Love this guy. He has turned what was a mess of a title into probably an outstanding MMO once released.
Wish Squenix had more individuals like Yoshi, his communication with the community and the efforts of his staff have been enormous in allowing a FFXIV restart to be even plausible.
While we cant really judge how the 'reborn' game will play out, I hope they can sort it out so Square can start promoting a 7-year-in-development game.
It feels like if I am waiting for this game to arrive on the ps3 for a whole decade! I know it wasn't announced this long ago, but it feels this long to me. Anyway, still (impatiently) excited!
With this and PSO2 coming out for Vita in the US(Hopefully), I wont be getting a ps4 anytime soon.
End of Line.
He seems genuine. To bad too much damage may have already been done. I won't play it again but hope it has a home for others.
