This is the industry at it's inception. The games industry is still young comparitively. Look at how far other forms of art and entertainment have come. It will be exciting to look back and know that we were part of a revolution and evolution.
As a gamer that goes all the way back to the late 70's, I have to say my favorite benefit is the DLC. Never had that on the old arcade machines, but just think how much fun the original Mario would have been if the machine asked if you wanted to play some more levels after saving the Princess.
I can't wait to see some of the multiplayer experiences on PS4. With all the processing power the action could get CRAZY!
Gaming today is light years from where it was even 10 years ago. And don't get me started on how far it's come since I was a kid. I remember playing games on C64 until my 5.25" floppies literally melted.
