Is Dead Space 3 Already Dead?

Marty from DC writes: When the original Dead Space was released, it filled the survival horror void that Resident Evil had left in its transition to the current generation of consoles. I understood why RE had to change, to appeal to a wider audience and generate more sales, but I felt cheated. And despite my best efforts to shake it, that same feeling has returned for Dead Space 3. So after a two hours hands-on with the title and an interview with series producer John Calhoun, were my concerns justified?

It's dead to me since i'm not dropping 60 bucks on it

Root4104d ago

After what EA has said recently about it and what they've done to the last good horror franchise out there...it's dead to me as well

I hope it bombs hard...I hope it sells so bad they start questioning why even though deep down they know why.

Better to die off now then continue like RE with it's awful installments after RE4 which get worse and worse.

Haters will hate, but I'm ready for some more Dead Space any day.

Ezz20134104d ago

so haters are the ones who played the demo
and didn't like it as you did?!

Wingsfan244104d ago

No, the haters are the people who complain about anything and everything on N4G. Everyone's entitled to their opinion of the game, but most people who played the first two and say they aren't getting the third judged the whole game on a couple gameplay clips and demo that's been shown to the public plenty before it was released.

DeadSpaced4104d ago

The demo just showed the new stuff. It wasn't a representation of the game. It wasn't even a full level. They chopped some gameplay up and mashed it together.

But, like PockyKing said, Haters will hate.

rdgneoz34104d ago

@DeadSpaced Demos are suppose to be "a representation of the game." They're suppose to give you an idea of the final game so you can decide whether you want to buy the full version or not.

DeadSpaced4104d ago

@rdgneoz3 Well, I guess they didn't follow your definition of a demo.

MysticStrummer4104d ago

Not liking the demo is one thing, but haters have been whining for months about this game. All demos are not created equal, and as DeadSpaced said the DS3 demo wasn't even a real level, just a bunch of gameplay mashed together. I think it's a great idea to do a demo that way. You can see how the game plays without revealing anything major. I was torn between this an Aliens, but now I'm thinking I'll get DS3 and save Aliens for later.

no its not dead!! cant wait :)

Psychonaut4104d ago

I played the demo and enjoyed it, the only thing I have to I guess complain is hope they fix the slight hit detection with the online co-op. The new weapons bench is tons of fun, I was sitting there saving blue prints for sci-fi films, like I made a Ripley's gun assult rifle with flame thrower.

A demo is just that, a demo and you cannot a whole game based on it. if you dislike it then thats perfectly fine, its your opinion and you are more then entighteld to it, but when you go on a message board saying oh its this and that.. Well then you are spreading false rumors about a complete project based on alittle taste. and I think thats what makes one a Fanboy, or as i've seen on this site a TROLL. (im new here so yeah.)

Why Dead Space 3 Will Be the Hardest to Remake

If EA and Motive Studio plan on remaking all the main Dead Space entries, they have to change a lot of what made Dead Space 3 so divisive.

Simple, do not bother with a Dead Space 3 remake. Rather have a new entry for Dead Space.

myfathersbastard415d ago

Yeah I agree. Make a dead space 3, but have an original story/setting. They’ve proven they can do the game justice, and I think they could evolve 2 in a good direction, keeping a similar tone. I’d love s Dead Space 2 and 3 though. The remake was fantastic. Top tier remake, up there with RE2.

jznrpg415d ago

Remaking 3 would need to be a reworked and somewhat changed remake as 3 was flawed in most peoples eyes and the worst entry.

Ninver415d ago

It's the worst in the series.

Dead Space 3, A Ten Year Reunion

WTMG's Kyle Nicol:

"Was Dead Space 3 really that bad?

Well, it’s a complicated question. Dead Space 3 is undeniably the weakest of the trilogy. It’s a game that deviates so far from the original formula, that it throws a lot of what made Dead Space special in the first place out of the window. Although, where it does make up for it is one of the best cooperative shooters on the market, even after all this time. Do I recommend playing this game ten years later? Hell yes. But make sure your expectations are in the right place. It has a lot of problems that bring it down."
