Why 2012 Was A Great Year For Gaming

slashgear.com: 2012 was an interesting year in many respects, but it was a particularly interesting year for gaming. 2012 had its share of ups and down, but looking back on the year as a whole, I’d say that it was ultimately good for gamers, developers, and the industry in general. A lot happened throughout the year, and even though we saw vitriol from gamers climb to pretty frightening heights in some cases, there were some pretty cool things happening that you may not have noticed. Needless to say, if 2012 was any indication, then 2013 should be one of gaming’s biggest years yet.

Yep, new Trials and Minecraft on Xbox Live were killers! Nuff said!

yet joureny still the one who score 92% meta
which pretty much score higher than every thing on xbox this year
and it's the one with GOTY awards from most sites
(just like what always happen since 2008 with ps3 exclusives)

just stating facts

2012 is nothing compare to what 2013 have in store for us, 2013 will be in my opinion the best year for PS3 from the moment of it's launch back in 2006, w8 & see!

coolmast3r4140d ago

every year was great for gaming.

csreynolds4140d ago

2012 was not a great year for gaming - more a poor year from which a few absolute gems emerged.

Y_51504140d ago

Yes same here. This year also felt good because of like me we still had a lot of games that came out during 2011 that we played this year.

DragonKnight4140d ago

2012 was a poor year for gaming. There were fewer gems this year than last year. I suppose that can't be helped as the gen is in wind down mode, but that really doesn't excuse half-assed attempts.

Best JRPG series of the last 5 years imo

repsahj215d ago

I agree 100%. My top JRPG so far, together with Baldurs Gate 3 and FF16.

autobotdan215d ago (Edited 215d ago )

There is no together at the top. There is only one top jrpg series. Xenoblade Chronicles series is alone at the top

raWfodog214d ago (Edited 214d ago )

I like the Xenoblades series but my ‘top’ series would be either the Trails series or Persona series. Just too many good games for me to just pick one series though, so I say play them all lol.

autobotdan214d ago

You are hereby excommunicated the church of Xenoblade Chronocology

CappyBlack214d ago

I'm not huge into JRPGs, but my favorite is easily the Persona series. It's all opinion though. Xenoblade is a great series.

Tetsuya Takahashi Wants The Next Xenoblade To Be Vastly Different From Previous Games

Tetsuya Takahashi has revealed his plan to make the next Xenoblade vastly different from previous games.

GotGame818245d ago (Edited 245d ago )

I liked the Xenoblade X formula. It takes awhile, but opening up Mechs was amazing. Especially once you can fly them, and use them in battle. You have to put some time into the game to do it, but it's worth it!

Also, the graphics were more realistic than the other games. Still looks good today, just a lot more pop-in than is acceptable today, hell even too much for back then. It wasn't game breaking though.

gleepot214d ago

Xenoblade 1-3 and X are so great. That said, I'm ready for them to do a big change up.

Bethesda makes the most consistently stupid NPCs, like really bad... yet I still can't help but love playing their games. Guilty pleasure, I guess. *sigh* 😩

How did redfall not make the cut.

Every Bethesda game and Every Halo game. This list needed to have Cyberpunk somewhere.
