GTA V: Burning Questions Answered

IGN:Rockstar’s Dan Houser explains the ins and outs of the next great leap for the sandbox franchise.

Even more great reads and stuff to get my head around

I don't know why, but I don't feel like the questions asked by IGN were too helpful. I didn't learn much more than from what Game informer got. I want to know about how the aiming mechanics work, if we still have to (annoyingly) use a face button to sprint/run, HOW spending money contributes to the economy of the game, if drug dealing missions return (which Chinatown Wars was praised for), if they would ever make a gta mmo (which many have shown interest in via mods of gta 4 and san andreas), etc. Will there be gang wars? These things are important for the evolution of the series. Most interviews with the Houser bros seem to only be about all the stuff they've omitted from the series (dating, body type, purchasing property), etc. All I hear about is story and map size.

Hey, I love a good story, but what will we do for replay value that will keep the game interesting? Doing side missions AFTER the game is complete, does nothing for me if the game doesnt have persistent events (like gang turf wars, dynamic drug territories (which must be maintained), and other things that must be "maintained". Even in San Andreas, there was no motivation to play after all the turf was taken since the enemy could never retaliate. Also, what good is a vast area if so many buildings are uninhabitable? I would rather have a smaller city (which would still be big compared to most other games), if it meant that I could enter inside of buildings and homes. Pretty scenary means little if theres no interaction.

I'm gonna buy gta 5 anyway, but I just wish Rockstar would look at into these things. I want more than pretty landscapes and a movie script, I want great, persistent gameplay.

Dayum! if you really have that much to say then write a book..

Donnieboi4177d ago

@ Shotcalm: "Thinking" is something people don't like to do anymore. People are happy with acquiring "information" but not comfy with THINKING about said information. So what's the point in trying to reason? I share my point of view, and you tell me to "write a book" lol. I just think it's mind boggling that people don't think about what exactly it is that they'd like to see in a game. Obviously the guy at IGN was ill-prepared to think of any significant questions to ask Mr. Houser from Rockstar. Even though Rockstar is the king of open world games, their not the only developers of such games. And some other franchises have acknowledged some of the issues I mentioned above. I just wish Rockstar played other games so that they can see what other companies have been doing to the sandbox genre too.

"This is the first GTA with a musical score. Why?

We saw it in both Red Dead [Redemption] and Max [Payne 3]. When you put scores into missions, it brought them to life....""

Yea they know that airport scene in Max Payne was jizz worthy.Just makes me even that much more hyped for this

WeskerChildReborned4177d ago

I'm hoping they have mini games for Multiplayer like maybe dirtbiking etc.

BitbyDeath4177d ago

I still want to know if we get tanks and cheats.
Would be awesome if all cheats were available once the game was completed.

Getowned4177d ago

I want tanks so badly! GTA4 was really missing the tank. I hope cheat return not many games have cheats anymore. I loved spawning the helli in GTA4, I played most of the game flying it, also I really hope we get parachutes.

I felt this was a slightly more interesting read than the GI fan Q&A... I am really excited about the focus on heists. GTA3 started with a heist gone wrong so it's kinda come full circle. Please let us customize cars at least R*!!!

nofallouthero4177d ago

if the game is even half as awesome as R* say it will be i can wait for the pc version :)

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing693d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy853d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
