THQ to giveaway Metro 2033 for free, according to its newest domain names

In October, THQ allowed customers to purchase the first-person shooter Metro 2033 for half-off for an entire week. Now, it looks like THQ may sweeten the deal on Metro 2033 by giving it away for free, as the release date for Metro: Last Light draws closer and closer. This week THQ appears to have privately registered several names hinting at the offer, like GetMetro2033free.com and FreeMetroGame.com.

They will probably make you fill out a long crappy survey before you get it for free

RickHiggity4190d ago

Oh no!!!!! A few surveys for a free game :P

Survey!!!!!!!!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! !!

Those surveys SUCk major ball-sackage! I rather just buy the game than do a 70 minute survey only to find out that my age/race/sex/answer bracket is full and my answers dont count. (good thing I already own Metro2033)

Most likely will be free with every new purchase of Metro: Last Light.

Hopefully, to get it free, it's as simple as being a member of Playstation Plus.

That would be awesome. I hope Metro 2033 comes to PS3, as it was a truly wonderful game. I only played it this year, and thought it was very good. The atmosphere and story rival Bioshock's. Outstanding.

It makes me wonder though, how many people are actually gonna bother with a sequel to which they never played the first. It's not like the first had a ton of publicity...

bubblebeam4189d ago

@Candy

Exactly. Trine and Trine 2 were awesome on PSN (think they were on PC too..), but Xbox 360 only got the 2nd, and like 2 people have downloaded it.

I think it should be standard practice by now to include prequels along side the sequel (Provided the platform is getting the sequel to a game that isn't available).

I just hope the gameplay is fixed. The only thing stopping Metro 2033 from being an absolute complete experience was the shoddy gameplay. I heard they fixed it in Last Light, so I can only hope.

Metro Video Game Series: A Comprehensive History

The Metro video game series started with a humble b-list title, before building a strong fanbase and becoming a pioneer in the industry.

Never got into Exodus, but 2033 was excellent.

kevco3391d ago

Yeah, Exodus just didn't grab me either, sadly.

I absolutely loved 2033 and Last Light, however. Played them both on 360 and then again with the remasters!

anast91d ago

I just started it and it is already miles better than the first 2 which are dated.
