Dishonored: the return of true stealth

Dishonored goes back to a time where stealth games were awesome. VG247's Dave Cook looks at why sneaking brings out the best in us.

"the return of stealth"

not really...

Summons754218d ago

yes because it totally released already...../s

however I was watching a stream today and I say the guy walk to two guards in broad daylight, stab one in the face while he was facing him and walked away.....That is NOT stealth, that is called having the most stupid AI possible in a video game.

Sketchy_Galore4217d ago (Edited 4217d ago )

but Summons, you already decided yesterday that this game was a 4 hour long rip-off of better games with a horrible art style, terrible controls and a boring story and that all the good reviews were clearly by reviewers who were paid off (meaning just about every review we've seen here from the biggest site to the lowliest blog got some payola...wow) and you're still watching streams of it.

Jesus, man. You don't even sound like a troll anymore. You sound like someone with a sick obsession with this game. Like the guy who parks his car outside a gay bar and sits there mumbling homophobic things while wishing he had the guts to go in.

"the return of stealth"

if standing in front of enemy AI with sometimes them not noticing you counts as "stealth" then yes.

adorie4217d ago (Edited 4217d ago )

I'm half way or so, on Very Hard. 7 hours in. That's a few hours before your comment. Lol.

Length seems subjective through playstyle and determination. This game is an easy 9-9.5 for me. I am enjoying it greatly.

Edit: try standing in front of someone on very hard. I can't even walk by the AI without getting noticed sometimes. MGS style with the excalmation marks. Hehe

The Stealth is there... if you want it.

The return of true stealth? Clearly, someone hasn't played Mark of the Ninja. it may be a side-scrolling game, but it actually IS true stealth.

FarCryLover1824218d ago

It may not be true stealth, but at least there is stealth. Le sigh... I miss Splinter Cells from 2002-2006 and Thief :(

MeatAbstract4217d ago

I thought true stealth was when that is your only option really because you'll more than likely die if you don't use stealth.

It's just another option in Dishonored which is cool, freedom of choice an all that but odds are if you're trying to be stealthy and fail, you'll easily fight your way out.

The Magic of 'Dishonored’s' Blink

It’s a shame, really, that so few games have “borrowed” Dishonored’s Blink – in the right hands, such a power could be game-changing.

It felt kinda cheap to me… both in terms as a tactic, and game design

Abnor_Mal433d ago (Edited 433d ago )

There was a small game called Aragami that “borrowed” the blink, that was a good game.

Unfortunately I heard the sequel wasn’t good so I stayed away from trying it out.

The sequel changed some of the mechanics from the first game but it was still a very polished and enjoyable experience. You should definitely give it a shot sometime. The game's currently on sale on Steam

Abnor_Mal432d ago

Okay thanks for the heads up, will look out for it being on sale one day.

I really did like the first and played it back to back as soon as I finished the first play through.
