Spec Ops: The Line Reduced Price

Spec Ops: The Line first caught gamers attention with a few trailers and a lengthy demo. Then the reviews came out and critics raved about the morality in the game. If you didn't pick it up when it first came out for $60, the price is now reduced to $45 new on Amazon. You can get it cheaper for used copies.

So happy I didn't buy this brand new @ $60. Don't get me wrong, it was one hell of a game, but way too short. I bought it used and beat it twice in 24 hours. Debating on returning it already.

showtimefolks4300d ago

The story was about 8hrs long but it wasn't all set action pieces like many other shooters. I felt like it was a mature story for adults.

Buying used isn't helping any of the devs who worked quite hard and than we wonder why there are online passes. It wouldn't shock me if going forward into next gen that publishers start to lock single player content unless you have a pass by buying new

It's a business and when a brand new game that just came it people are buying used will have consequences in the long run

"It wouldn't shock me if going forward into next gen that publishers start to lock single player content unless you have a pass by buying new"

Already happening.

xGet_In_There4300d ago

I normally buy everything brand new, unless I hear something like it is less than 5 or so hours long. Although I could afford it, I cannot justify spending $60 for a game that will last me a day haha. I played it on normal, or whatever it is called in game, and beat it the first time in 3 hours and 45 minutes and the second time in 3 hours and 27 minutes. I haven't tried multiplayer yet, but if it is fun and grabs my attention I will return my used copy and purchase it brand new for replay value.

spacedelete4300d ago

who gives a crap if the dev gets paid for the game or not. as a gamer you want to get the game as cheap as possible especially as games nowadays are shorter/crap/lack of content etc.

only the good developers deserve to get rewarded. the rest can fall in a ditch for all i care.

It's people like you who are responsible for online passes and soon single player content beng locked. If a game is good and spec ops is really good than why don't the dont the devs deserve money and to actually may make a sequel or a new IP which they could get a bigger budget for

Next time you are giving your money to a used game retailer think about it's long term affects because than people like you will be the nes crying about content being locked the most

It's been that price on Amazon for a while now.

BushLitter4300d ago

This is sad. This was one of my favourite games of 2012. It's a pity it has not received commercial success initially, but hey, neither didn't Boondock Saints

AusRogo4300d ago

The game is great! The story is awesome for a shooter too. And it also has replay value, play through the game again but making different morality choices. People support this developer who actually made a great game with a more then decent story!

Spec Ops: The Line was super dark.

Incredible story.

SheenuTheLegend79d ago

all the games in the above list are bang on. this is the only reason we need backwards compatibility and physical presense of games for the upcoming future, no matter what.

Yi-Long80d ago

Honorable mention to the excellent Driveclub, one of the best racing games of all-time and one of my favourite games ever.

melons80d ago

yes! incredible rain effects; so good to drive along in rain with your Spotify playlist blaring

Skuletor80d ago

I really wanted a MotorStorm using the same engine, Driveclub is easily one of the best looking games on PS4 and I'm surprised they didn't even give it a PS4 Pro patch.

ravens5279d ago

Yes indeed. May just install it on my PS5. You know, physical copy and all.

monkey60279d ago

I adored Driveclub and the Bike expansion. I also loved Motorstorm. Evolution shutting down was a crime

Outrun Online Arcade, Sega Rally Online Arcade, After Burner Climax... all good stuff. I keep my 360 hooked up to play these as well as the TMNT games that were also delisted.

Skuletor80d ago

I have quite a few of these. Timed licenses suck.

Terry_B79d ago (Edited 79d ago )

wow...I have all of them except the Nintendo ones either in physical or digital version.

Also..Deadpool the Game is missing on that list.

Spec-Ops: The Line - A 'Typical' Shooter With Horrifying Hidden Depths

It's really a shame that the Spec Ops reboot didn't continue into a series. Obviously the story in The Line is over. But each game could have delved into the different psychological effects of war as well as exploring different takes on Heart of Darkness. In a sea of mindless military shooters it was nice to finally play a shooter that actually had something to say.

EazyC99d ago

This game was the last of a dying breed, a signifier of where shooter games (and videogames more broadly) COULD have gone if developers didn't pivot so hard into the online services, micro transaction, season pass, yada yada.

New narrative territory exploring the actual art form of gaming and storytelling within it.

Yui_Suzumiya99d ago

A brilliant depiction into what war can really do to a person and doesn't glorify it in any way.

Psychonaut8599d ago

I heard this game might be getting delisted, which is a travesty, this is one that should be preserved forever

Puty98d ago

I think the title was unfortunate - it was when Moder Warfare got big so I assumed it was yet another clone. Fortunately, because ps plus I checked out this gem of a game.
