Sega Reports 83% Decline In Net Profit

Sega Sammy reported their financial results for the first six months ending September 30, 2011 this morning and while the company did show some profit for their efforts overall net profit fell by 83.7% from the same time period last year.

Well, Sega. You deserve this.

All the games you release have horrible dates. Yakuza 3 Was pitted against Final Fantasy XIII, and Resonance of Fate against God of War 3.

Yeah, I love some of Sega's games, but they gotta start considering this shit!

I love how low consumption was 3rd on their list of reasons for this, behind the earthquake and supply chain issues. Pretty sure those first two didn't have as big an impact as putting out subpar games.

Sega sells Relic and will cut 240 jobs across UK studios

GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.

The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."
