Doubt it will backfire. If their last presentation is anything to go by, almost every multiplatform game they will show will be day one on Game Pass. If Sony tweets anything, they can say “Play these all on Game Pass or pay $1000+ on PS5”.
Microsoft can close this deal regardless. Worst case scenario, Activision games are on Game Pass in every part of the world except the UK.
UK gamers get screwed again.
Does that include Zynga games?
GTA V sells 5 million units every quarter like clockwork. It will be over 200 million by the time GTA VI releases.
People have been saying the Xbox brand wouldn’t last much longer for 22 years now. Microsoft just invested $69 billion in Xbox and had their second best March quarter in history. The brand is not going away no matter how badly you want it to.
Skyrim released to a 96 on Metacritic despite the bugs. Bugs are inevitable in a game of this scale and complexity. I’m not aware of any game in development that is more ambitious than Starfield. Maybe GTA VI, knowing how crazy Rockstar goes. But I don’t see how the state of Redfall or Game Pass has any bearing on Starfield. This is a once in a gen kind of game.
It’s definitely convenient not having to swap discs. Whenever I buy a game at launch I go digital, but if I’m buying an older game I will buy physical to get a discount.
It’s understandable that any games that launch on Game Pass are going to have lower sales. The goal is for them to drive subscriptions. What I’m surprised by are the low sales for multiplatform games on Xbox that aren’t on GP. For example, 82% of Hogwarts Legacy sales were on PS5. That’s a huge discrepancy compared to the install bases and it’s been a similar case with other high profile titles. That should be setting off alarm bells at Microsoft.
Eurogamer reviews always come off as pretentious.
It’s funny, because she did another list of the best DLCs of all time, where she ranked The Ballad of Gay Tony as #1. Although, it reads like she never actually played it:

In fact, all of her articles are lazy Top 10 lists.
Weapon upgrade tickets already exist in the game. You can trade spinels for them. This doesn’t bother me one bit because it’s a single player game and doesn’t affect the experience of anyone else.
It takes five or six playthroughs to unlock all trophies.
I will forever miss the megatons and crowd reactions. I still remember when Microsoft brought Kojima on stage to announce he was bringing MGS to Xbox. Or when Final Fantasy was announced for Xbox. Microsoft had the best “and one more thing” moments back in the 360 days.
But my favorite E3 crowd reaction has to be from Sony’s 2013 conference. Right on the heels of the Xbox One conference, Jack Tretton came on stage and delivered the one-two punch of “we support used games” a...
The remake is only on PS5 and now PC.
This game is just A1 quality. I think it’s my favorite game since The Last of Us 2. It just feels damn good to play and it’s beautiful to look at. Not many games get me this excited but I can’t wait to go home and keep playing it.
No, Leslie left Rockstar in 2016.
@rlow1
Any idea which issue that was? I’d love to read that article.
It looks great, but I’m definitely feeling some uncanny valley.
There’s an interview with Aonuma where he reveals they originally planned a hunger system for BOTW where Link would get slower until he couldn’t move anymore when his hunger depleted. They removed it because it would be too much of a chore for players.
GTA IV was the overhaul. Euphoria physics changed everything, and the gameplay evolved into more over the shoulder/cover shooting.
