if large and expansive games such as oblivion can be created and just SOMEHOW fit onto a dvd disk... then i am not so worried. In comparison the game Resistance used almost all of the 50 Gb of space. So why isn't resistance longer? Its all in how the files are compressed.
I do think that blue ray / ps3 will win out in the end however. Every ps3 sold to a casual gamer is a planted blu-ray player that might not have been purchased...

And i, as an owner of a 360, am slanted toward Hd-Dvd... but only because if i decided to get an HD player there would be a cheap add-on available in Hd-DVD. I just hope that if Blu-ray wins there is a blu-ray add on for the 360 so i dont have to pay for a stand alone player.

I would almost rather have halo 3 running on 720p native. Not only can i not run 1080p, but the graphics would be better on 720p because there wouldn't be as much processing and graphics power wasted on the extra pixels.

I had no idea that the Ps3 was getting near to breaking even. Last time i saw official numbers on the 3 consoles, it was nintendo banking 50 a pop and the 360 was losing about $90 and the Ps3 was losing $150.

Just look at the NPD numbers for console sales... 360 outsold Ps3 by about 60K units, and outselling the ps3 for the last few months as well.
Ps3 isn't catching up the 360... 360 is actually widening the gap
MGS4 will probably end up better because of it. All of those exciting games that we are all talking about are slated for a holiday 07 launch. It will probably be a great game, and will shine that much more by itself when it is not surrounded by dozens of the other holiday games.
