If you're really serious about journalism, consider this:
When your reporter puts up his review, or article, YOUR site endorses that piece. He is not a lone wolf posting, he is YOUR reporter posting stuff YOUR site agrees with.
It's how all the respectable newspapers and news-magazines work.
If YOUR reporter wants to say something YOUR site may not necessarily agree with, there usually is a disclaimer saying that his views are his own, not shared by the ...
It's not that Nintendo has stopped making such games, its just that they are putting out too few of them.
Hardcore gamers' appetites for such games are voracious. I just finished Batman AA, but already I'm looking forward to the next big thing around the corner. If I don't get my fix, well, I will feel ignored!
Hardcore gamers are not going to sit with one game and replay it ad nauseum for the whole year.
Let's put it this way. You listed 13 hardcore ga...
Food for trolls! =)
French to English: Well originally Splinter Cell was an exclusive title to Xbox, and with Conviction (the decision) really allowed us to work on the tech....
Original French: Money.
Seriously, I would say good job Ubisoft. Although I won't get to play it, because I only have a PS3, I would say its better if developers focus on one platform whenever possible. It helps makes games better, and us gamers are better off for it.
But when I saw the headline, I KNEW it was HHG already.
Look, I'll come out and say it - I admit that reviews do affect the choices I make when it comes to buying games.
Yes yes, I know that scores are subjective, often manipulated, etc etc, but I don't have limitless cash. And when I read the reviews closely, and I see them describe gameplay elements that interest me, when they say things like "solid third-person action title", it's good enough for me to really think hard about getting it.
And come on, how ofte...
the gameshop nearest my house is already selling the patapon 2 umd case with the download voucher inside, no umd included. they might be getting a smaller cut of the pie, but it's still money to be made.
sony already said that they will be ensuring that games can still be distributed at gameshops, just that they will sell the download vouchers instead of the UMD discs.
so don't be alarmist. business is carrying on as usual.
But SE's kinda like the bf/gf who has gone back on their word one too many times, such that you probably wouldn't want to pin too many hopes on their word.
I don't believe in the 'exclusivity'.
which subset of the gaming population Nintendo has decided to focus on this generation.
And the part that makes me sad, is that I don't think I'm part of that priority group. Please prove me wrong Big N.
1. Exclusives happen for many other reasons - production costs, better publishing deals with a certain company, machine limitations. A small company stands to make more money by focusing resources on one platform, rather than all.
2. By proclaiming so loudly that exclusives = fanboyism, you reveal that you yourself are a fanboy. Because you think that the ONLY REASON exclusives happen, is for the console war.
3. I'm going to take everything you write from now on with...
then it's also good news for all gamers! I can't afford both games in the same month, so spaced apart, I might just get both.
I do like Crackdown-kinda games... GTA's world is a tad too realistic for me!
I know the whole she-bang about how you're supposed to just play a game and enjoy it and not care about reviews...
But money's tight man. I think I've got enough spare cash for either one, but doubt I can get both in May/June. I'm downloading the video now, hopefully there will be more coverage of both games so I can make an informed decision!
I think I'm really part of the minority that didn't enjoy GTA4 as much as the reviews seemed to suggest I would.
Perhaps it was how after a while I felt like I had done it all before. The driving, the not-quite-there shooting, the plethora of mini-games and tasks designed to make the GTA world a 'real' one...
Don't get me wrong. The story was strong. But I guess I was just looking for something new and refreshing, game-play wise. It didn't help that in anticipation ...
But I just realized, when I bought my PS3 in 2007 my best friend just got engaged to his girlfriend.
In 2011 or 2012, when we do get this game, my best friend's child would be three or four years old (he was born in 2008).
Wow. Really puts things in perspective.
You still have titles like these coming!
1. 05/05 - Destiny of Zorro
2. 05/08 - Dance Destiny Pop Hits
3. 05/12 - Puzzle Kingdoms
4. 05/21 - Big Family Games
5. 05/22 - Purr Pals
6. 05/26 - The Munchables
And think, that's only in May! You still have tons of great titles coming up! Don't feel so bad about Assassin's Creed II!

I do urge you guys to read it.
It is true that we do need to develop a finer sense of criticism for videogames, but that said, it is not like the methods of criticism for other forms of media are that much better advanced.
Look at Metacritic. The scales are different for movies vs. videogames. A 75 and above is good for videogames, while 61 and above is good for movies.
That means that the nuances for movie reviews are scaled differently from games, and...
Nice one there. Made me laugh
That's indeed a big bump for the PS3. Last week it was only 16k, now it's 57k... that's like, what, 350% increase?
http://chartget.com/search?...
I just hope that publishers will soon see that the PS3 will no longer have the "disadvantage" of not having a large enough install base to justify bringing their games to the PS3.
This...
Guys. Look through my comments and you'll see that I've always been slightly critical of Xbox, and slightly more supportive of PS3.
But this article made me a bit sick inside. Yes, I should have been happy that there was a "pro-PS3" article, but this is not the way to do it.
1. Author says Xbox exclusives are all the same, PS3's have more variety - dear author, don't set an artificially small pool of games, and don't just focus on explaining the PS3 side of...
@happyface: Competition between developers would only lead to better games!
It is a natural tendency for human beings to become more lax when there is no competition. If there were no Wii or Xbox this generation, might Sony not be as pompous and arrogant as they were in the early days of PS3? Would they not expect to easily dominate the market, and therefore, put less effort into things?
I offer a few examples:
1. Leaderboards - when there are leaderboar...
