PS3 = get it now, because the emotion engine is going away with the 60gb, and you will want to play your old games once in a while.
360 = Wait for the "Falcon" hardware to come out. The 65nm process & updates should keep the red ring away and by then, they will probably have a price drop also. Yes, they extended the warranty, but why buy a console that could get you 1/2 way through a game, then you have to send it in for repair and it's gone for a few weeks.

"My guess is that without the emotion engine the 80GB (which uses software emulation for backwards compatibility) costs LESS to make than the 60GB with emotion engine, so they actually make a bigger profit with the new version."
Since they are losing money on every box, I would say that they aren't trying to make a bigger profit, but trying to not lose as much $$ on every one. All of the manufacturers are going to do the same. The 360 has "Falcon" queued u...
He never said "It's their fault", or somesuch. Just said he can't controll what they put out. F- to the author for the headline.
And bootsielon is the only one who picked up on the fact that with the 60gb gone, PS3 is strictly emulation for PS2 games after these sell out. Anybody who wants the hardware in the system better get buying one now, before they are indeed gone. If you're on the fence and have a large collection of PS2 games this would be the time to move.
As far as what plans are? I'm sure they'll have a $500 SKU as Christmas, but what will the configuration be? Hard drives are cheap, but E...
"Because dropping the 60gb ps3 WILL NOT INCREASE SALES and sony KNOWS that. The thing is...it might"
There's at least 4 stories on N4G about the price drop sending PS3 sales on Amazon alone up %2300. So yeah, I'd say it did indeed increase sales.
Sony proved they are ready to fight it out, and they will be bringing the games to prove it. Ratchet, Haze, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, and it just keeps coming. After all of the negativity from the past few months, it's almost unbelievable they pulled this off.
Microsoft had Mass Effect which looks like the best thing Bioware has ever done, and since these are the guys that made KOTOR that's saying something. PGR4 with bikes was personal favorite of mine, seeing the guy ...
"Not being the "top dog" has forced them to connect with gamers on an entirely differently level than before"
Great point, and I'm glad it's worked out that way.
It seems like titles are comming, so is it just the difficulty level the hardcore player wants? If so, why not just have a few different levels of difficulty available for play?
That said, I understand that they are putting more time & effort into the non-game, but it is making them a lot of $$$. So I guess you really can't blame them.
It seems like the only news in that article is that Kotaku is confused. I wasn't aware that it was a rare occurance. Well done, and thanks for the update...
It really does look like the Toblo game mentioned in the comments of that article though... Spielburg = plagerist?
They tilted the gun up to re-load, tilting is what Wii motes do right?
They just slapped together a plastic rack and hoped people would fall for it. Next will be the "Wii Glove", which is just a normal glove, but you can hold your Wiimote with it and it has a logo on it therefore transforming it into a Will accessory they can charge for.
And G4 ended up cutting to commercial at all the wrong times.
I don't care about sales numbers, because it doesn't matter. All 3 consoles are out and none of them are going away. The best part of the xbox show was Mass Effect and PGR4. PGR4 with bike tricks = insanely f'in awesome.
You may not think it's "innovative", but Sony taking a cue from a massively popular title (second life), and adding to it with great game features is f'in awesome too. I ...
"Also, since when was the Washington Post so knowledgeable about gaming."
They aren't.. Again, they didn't know about Rock band and called it Guitar Hero.
I'm with you.. It's different, and could be fun.
The writer of the article should maybe not be taken so seriously, because he didn't know the difference between Guitar Hero and Rock Band. If your so outside of the industry that you haven't heard about that whole deal, how can you comment effectively? I give the article an F-.
Why this game isn't better hyped by Sony is beyond me. It's graphics are phenomenal, however it seems you can't get any attention unless you try to be "photo-realistic" ala Killzone or such. The stylized look & incredible fidelity of this game blows away most other games I've seen at E3.
It's only a plastic rack to hold your wiimote & nunchuck. I don't think there is even 1 wire in the thing.. Just like the "racing wheel" they are going to give away with Mario cart. It's a neat way to use the controllers you already have, but $20 for a hunk of plastic is not great.
These guys just never disappoint do they? Looked awesome, yet another reason to buy a 360. (Falcon model of course)
In the snow race the guy is riding the Jay Leno Jet powered motorcycle. I can't believe they even knew what it was. I've kept my xbox, but now I may have to upgrade it.
60? 30? Who cares. The game looked great, and if the gameplay can keep up with those motorcycle tricks in the video, I'm sold.
