Always thought the same too when I wasn't a huge anime fan. Once I was though, jp voices are leagues beyond any other language imo. The delivery from most jp VAs are just so amazing and you can really tell how much effort they put into them. Watch emotional scenes in anime and compare to the dubs if there exists one. I really liked and thought aerith's VA from crises core was best. Brianna sounds fine though. Aerith from kingdom hearts wasn't good lol.

Ugh open world is so damn overrated. Linearity has more quality to them and makes stories better because of it. The first game takes place in midgar only and if you've played the original, then you'd know it was the same too with it being all linear and just story after story, cutscenes after cutscenes. As long as the linearity isn't too forceful of making you only stay on one path and does give you decisions here and there to freely roam in different points in the game then linea...
Beat the remake and now back to p5r. Honestly just wanted to beat the game quick to avoid spoilers being everywhere on the internet, gameplay wasn't anything special for me to want to spend more time with it really. Will probably just wait for the pc version if I do go back to playing and 100% it.

Most "remakes" are just reboots/reimaginings as clearly the ffvii remake showed if you beat the game. RE 2 and 3 remakes changed up quite alot too. A remake in my mind is a complete overhaul in visuals to modern times from the ground up without making any big changes to core elements (story, gameplay, combat, script, character designs etc) besides just enhancing (not completely changing) them for the better for QOL, animations, etc and staying VERY faithful to the original. Combat can be quite good if you use your party well and have assess but I really hate the spongey enemies and the stagger system they took from ff13 and 15. Camera and everything going on can be quite messy too.
Square really needs to go back to turn-based on one of their mainline ff games someday, its worked so well with ff 1-10, I mean come on. Copy dragon quest and stick with the core classic elements like that series.

Its like horizen getting rid of the minimap all over again lol. I've always found waypoints to be very useful in open worlds. We'll see how it turns out for this game.
