Most gamers are casual gamers, and aren't familiar with the medium's history. That's not a bad thing, per se, but if you're going to put yourself in a position of authority and list "forgotten" characters, you really ought to be more knowledgeable about games.

Best-looking game I've ever seen is Okami.

When people talk about "graphics," what they really mean is fidelity, which is why achieving the "best graphics" is such a nonsensical, Sisyphean task.

It's amazing how many new franchises have been announced, seen multiple sequels, and ended while Square-Enix has been puttering around with FF15.

FF15 began development before Uncharted was even a thing. Before Dark Souls was a thing. Before Assassins Creed. Before Batman's Arkham games. Really puts things in perspective, huh?

Uh... those are some of the most well-known female characters in games. Add Lara Croft, Terra (and maybe some of the other FF girls) and Samus and you'd have 'em all.

The controls are pretty bad, but the real problems with the game are the lack of content (a 6-hour single-player only game in 2016? Seriously?) and the seriously outdated game design--environments should not be the same relative size as those in Starfox 64! Flight combat games are largely about flight, and not being able to fly very far or very fast is a serious impediment.

Nintendo's entire business model is built on "lateral technology" and killer apps. That means cheap hardware they don't have to sell at a loss, and one magic game that will make it sell like hot cakes. This approach has worked very well for Nintendo in the past, and there's no indication they'll approach the NX any differently.

I'm continually baffled by the faith so many people have in Nintendo's capacity to learn from their mistakes, when time after time they've demonstrated a complete inability to do so.

Differing opinions are fine and all, and I don't really care either way, but please, if you're going to use a big word like "plagiarize," please, at least take six seconds from your busy day to check a dictionary to make certain you are using it correctly. Otherwise someone like me will have to spend six seconds pointing out that you did not, and who needs that embarrassment?

I assume you're talking about Akira Toriyama, in which case... you're mistaken. He had nothing to do with the DBZ anime... he wrote the manga that was adapted into that anime. And he's not responsible for the Dragon Quest games, either. He just does the character art for them.

Typical musou fair. So not very good. I'd recommend the second game any time.

That would be a very smart move on their part.
Which is why it's the exact last thing I'd expect.

Nintendo shafted WiiU owners when the only new game for 2016 was a half-assed remake of an N64 game. Releasing an upcoming game on the WiiU on the WiiU and one other platform is, in fact, the opposite of shafting. Remember all those fanboys who bought PS3s for Final Fantasy XIII Versus and Kingdom Hearts 3? Yeah.

I've found that no amount of mods can fix bad writing or quest design, though every once in a while one will come close, like NPC Project for Skyrim.

Pretty much. Right now I've got a tower with a PC, PS3, PS4 and WiiU on it. As the NX approaches, the deciding factor for me is whether or not it will have full BC with my digital Wii and WiiU content--if it doesn't, I'm not gonna buy it, because even if I could juggle five different gaming platforms, why the hell would I want to?

3072d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

That's an odd assumption given how platforms are trending *away* from backwards compatibility. The PS3 emulation being too difficult is a decent excuse, yeah, but the PS4 could emulate PS2 and PS1 games with zero real trouble. Thing is, Sony figures it's better to re-sell a small number of older games as ports than to provide persistent digital libraries.

Can't say I don't think this is a great thing from every angle.

3073d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

That's not even remotely true. The regain meter started decreasing immediate, and I don't think any enemies (except maybe the very first ones?) could by combo-locked.

What it did was allow you to be more daring with combat. Instead of constantly hiding behind a shield and moving cautiously like in Dark Souls. It would be really nice if we had either option, but oh well, it turns out that aside from two or three areas, most of DS3 is easy enough you can play super re...

In broad strokes, Dark Souls is slower with more methodical combat (you have to be much more careful). It's also bigger in terms of... everything. More items, more NPCs, more quests, more bosses, more areas, more secrets. Should you pick of Dark Souls 3? Absolutely. And Dark Souls 1 as well. Of the Souls game, it's the true classic (minus the absurdly vehement opinion of pvp fetishists).

3078d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

I think ultimately I like Dark Souls 3 better more, but there are so many things Bloodborne did better. Most especially combat--I really don't understand why DS3 doesn't have Bloodborne's regain system. God forbid Miyazaki give gamers two different ways to play.

To be honest, I hope Sony doesn't make another handheld system. I mean, the Vita is great and all, but just looking at the PS4... I'd hate to see a handheld without folders or backwards compatibility. Given how long it took Sony to implement both those features for the Vita, how little inclination they've demonstrated toward either with the PS4, a third generation handheld from them would likely be... inferior to what came before.

And, to be realistic, it's ...
