OMG I wanna have like ten thousand of Alex Navarro's babies!!
Yeah PS3's are still a good $700 here. When I got mine it was $1000 :S
But yeah, Rock Band DLC is pretty well priced considering how much your getting from it, I've bought a few hundred dollars worth myself and will continue buying it. I play Rock Band way more than any other game though, plus its awesome for parties.
I have a friend in Canada who has bought ALL the RB DLC, I think he's spent something like $850 just on the DLC.
It's basically like releasing a new RB title but with a twist. As long as it has a cool setlist thats exportable to RB2 it should be pretty cool.
Definitely not as bad as releasing a stand alone game for alright (but admittedly kinda average) bands like Aerosmith, Metallica, Van Halen etc etc.
"If he wants to blame anyone, blame MTV/EA. "
Indeed, especially since HMX aren't even the main dev's behind Lego Rock Band (may be wrong). I'm pretty sure MTV is to be blamed for this one. At least the setlist looks somewhat promising so far, better than any of the GH first announcements.
The worst part isnt that your giving activision/neversoft your money. It's the fact that this "smash hits" wont be nearly as awesome as GH1 and 2.
"playing this game make people look so idiot!"
... oh the irony.
Actually, it's 'Heartbreaker' thats coming to RB. Just a heads up.
lol, quincy jones
Not to mention the fact that in some contries people are restricted to downloaded 1 or 2 GB per month because of archaic Internet plans.
I'm in Australia and on 40GB/month, but I have to share that with 4 other people.
I just want em to make the new map in GTA 5 be accessible via PSP, live, while your playing. Like a little GPS, that'd be cool.
This will be the last 3 pack HMX releases for a while.
Prepare for an onslaught of DLC ppl.
Man, when will people quit using that old image from a tech demo that's years old and has nothing to do with the game?
And Hallucinate, i agree. The game will be what it is, and it'll be done well. Xbots, FPS fans and some reviews will probably hate it because they wont understand that it plays exactly how it should. They'll assume it's a poorly made because there's not enough fragging and not take into account its an entierly different genre.
Madagascar 2 has made twice as much money as The Godfather has, that must mean it's a better movie, right?
Rock Band was made by the same company as Guitar Hero 1 and 2, then MTV bought the company and they made Rock Band.
Meanwhile, Red Octance (the company that made the CONTROLLERS for Guitar Hero) teamed with Neversoft (of Tony Hawks "fame") to make GH3 and World Tour.
Neversoft ripped off Harmonix more than Harmonix ripped off... themselves? But seeing as Harmonix and Red Octane split up it's not surprising they both went on to make more games in the rhythm ...
"So I guess by improving a concept and making it better it's a rip-off???"
Well the point is, Rock Band didnt steal the idea and improve the concept. The makers of Rock Band, Harmonix, are the people who made Guitar Hero, they were improving on their own ideas.
The makers of GH3, GH aerosmith, GH:WT etc (neversoft, from tony hawks fame) are the ones who took the idea from Harmonix and "improved" it.
Of course by "improved" I...
Indeed. And it's even funnier with the " Intelligent Investing | Data | Knowledge | Insight | Wisdom" bit under the article.
Shouldn't they be running Crysis on a $400 PC to be fair?
How can a PS3 game even kill an xbox game? They're different systems!!!
If everyone with a PS3 buys KZ2, it isn't going to damage the sales of Halo at all, its played by different freaking ppl.
It's like saying I bought this new t-shirt so I never need to eat pizza again.
Plus not all countries have unlimited download plans.
People in the US are complaining about comcast capping them at 200GB of downloads per month, there are people in Australia capped at 10GB, 2GB, 1GB, hell even 200MB!! And I'm not saying a few, there are million of people like that.
How is someone with 200MB of data usage per month gonna download a freakin movie?
Well there is NO way either developer could get the rights to digitally release either The Beatles or AC/DC (neither band is even available on iTunes). Harmonix have made stand alone games for these bands they just can't release as DLC.
Activision/Neversoft however are releasing a bunch of bands we've already seen in music games and who have their music available for purchase via digital distribution. That stuff could easily be DLC.
