It's my understanding that everyone gets 30 days of PSN+.
PS+ members were originally supposed to get 30 days AND the number of days the service was offline. Since the service was offline for like 25 days or something, the offer was extended to 60 days for plus members.

With existing Plus members, I think they said they get an extra month (like everyone else) AND they get extra days equal to the amount of time the service was down.
I'm not 100% positive about this but I believe it was mentioned on an article posted here a few days ago.
Sony have hired 3 independent security firms to forensically analyse their systems and report their findings. They likely have this file and a log proving when it was added to the server.
Sony are answering questions from many law agencies, working with law enforcement and this is a reply to the US house of representatives. Do you have any idea how much of a risk it would be to "bend the truth" a little to suit their ends? That would be highly illegal!

Actually there was a story on here a while ago apparently from a Sony rep.
He was saying that the ability to change your username was a feature that was planned to be released in a few weeks for the US and soon afterwards for the EU.
Take this with a huge load of salt though because the same guy said they might implement features like cross game chat when the network comes back...
Thats probably a hard ware issue with your ps3 unfortuately. Auto shut down is used to prevent overheating of the console. You should probably unplug it and leave it to cool.

Quick question out of curiosity; does no PSN access affect single player games?
I remember that time when all the ps3's internal clock freaked out at the leap year. This led to no PSN access but also some single player games wouldn't work, even if you didn't have the machine hooked up to the internet. It was something to do with trophies I believe. Does the same thing happen in this situation?

They use the most popular HDD size in their consoles because competition/mass production drives HDD costs down.
It would actually probably be more expensive to use the older 60/80 HDD because because they are not being manufactured in bulk anymore.
So it makes financial sense for them to up the HDD size and keep the console selling price the same.
Whats the legal situation if he had already deleted/formatted his drive before he was even served?
