I wonder if it's possible to patch in MLAA for the PS3?

Apparently it's now included in the SDK and can be "coded in an afternoon", according to an article I read here a while back.

It just makes everything look much smoother and doesn't utilize too much system resources. Although, I think it has trouble detecting edges in certain applications.

If an Xbox 360 release extended the development time and delayed the game even further, then yes it would annoy me, as a PS3 owner.

Other than that, I don't think going multiplatform would have a significant impact.

Is this the third game in the series? I've only played the first one, which was awesome.

"Surrrre" "Bommmmb"

Haha, I just remembered those lines. Something about the way he delivered them:)

I wonder if they tweaked the build slightly but had already started pressing discs.

I had a feeling this was the actual reason as I said yesterday in a comment, before this story broke.

The question now is if they will delay further to avoid clashes with other release dates. There will inevitably be some crossover between games(speaking from my perspective at least). However GT5 is one of the must-have titles, so the effect of that is mitigated somewhat.

I'm eagerly anticipating this game. I must of spent almost a year playing GT4(on and...

Maybe they didn't leave enough time to manufacture/press an adequate supply of discs?

I mean, they will make millions of them, that'll take a week or two maybe?

Officially, it was Japan only but it was understood that the other release dates would be "soon after". Kaz and Sony made some comments to that affect but I can't find a link for it now.

Everyone expected a relatively small gap between release dates.

It was officially meant to release in March in Japan, but it was understood that the rest of the world would get their paws on it "shortly afterwards"

Therefore, it was effectively delayed Worldwide twice now.

Lots of people actually.

Some people only play FIFA, some only COD and some only GT.

They registered a bunch of website names like Space Warfare ,Secret Warfare, Future Warfare etc.

This doesn't mean they will make those games, it just means that no one else can use those names now. But, this is Activision...

What some people may be forgetting is that increased storage usually coincides with new technology/better quality/extras.

DVD had higher quality than VHS, had some extras and required more space. Then HD video and uncompressed 7.1 audio came along and required more space, so we got blu-ray. We also have 3-D and interactive blu-ray extras etc.You get the gist of it, we have adequate space for now.

The question is where do we go from here?

No, according to Digital Foundry.

"Now you might think that having both discs installed to HDD would allow for no swapping at all, but that wasn't the case when we reached chapter six, and it wasn't the case when we immediately went back to the previous level. In both cases the disc needed to be inserted even though we had all the data immediately to hand on the HDD."

Can you actually patent a general concept?

I thought you could only patent the specific methods/technologies used to achieve that concept.

There seems to be some confusion here about "10 year cycles".

The next gen consoles are introduced in the middle of the previous consoles life cyle, typically 5 or 6 years from the release of the previous console (going by history of ps2,ps3).

However, with the huge increase in R&D costs etc. platform holders want to make this gen last a little longer. The downturn in the economy probably put a dampener on R&D budgets as well. Then of course...

Does the brightness/contrast get toned down significantly while using "shutter" glasses, like what happens when using "red-blue" glasses?

Do these new T.V's have the same issue?

5368d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment

Yes and no kinda, because of the way they designed the system around blu-ray.

The ps3 is optimized to stream uncompressed data from the disc. Uncompressed= large space requirement. If the data is highly compressed, it requires some sytem resources to "uncompress" it.

Now, the results obtained from both(using particular techniques) are comparable, so you can use compressed data but you will have a little more juice if you don't compress much ...

Chrome for me.

Every time I use IE8 and then try to exit it, the program crashes and I have to hit ctl+alt+del. I don't know if that's a glitch or just an issue with my computer or something.

Chrome is fine for me. The only niggling issue I have with chrome is that they keep changing the layout every month or so.
