Can you explain why my launch day PS2 still works just fine? Apparently propper care has more to do with some things than does the company that makes it. Now if we really want to go into massive hardware failure...

And every AV mag and publication agreed, the same way they agreed DVD audio would be better than CD by a long shot. Effective Copy-protection killed those 2 formats. It had nothing to do with spin. Amazing that all the critics said the same thing for CD and DVD in consoles. And yet Hmmmm... Well I for one applaud the move. Even if you never buy a Blu-ray disc. If it weren't for Sony Console games would still be on carts and costing an arm and a leg (anyone remember what N64 games were priced at launch lol were just paying that now for disc games that are way better). Had one. It died. Several times. I would't buy another if it were the only console. Who charged me to play games online, that were not even MMO's. Included nothing and charged for everything. And of all my origional Xbox games only 3 worked lol.
Ah, Go to WWW.ign.com they have a link to the site the list will be on in their article about it. The Euro machine has a different setup for how the PS2 was emulated. It's more software based now, and as such in the article that the list will be expanding as time goes on. Either way, look at it like this: The list is already longer than the list of Xbox games that will run on a 360. And to boot it means that older PS2 will be capable of being output in 480p due to the new setup. :)
I'm very pleased to see that both Nintendo and Sony have enough customer appreciation and pride of product to not simply drop any current fanbase just to force a move to their newer systems. I'm glad Microsoft's actions to the contrary won't be starting a precedence in the industry to abandon your customers.

Do you know how many people snatched up PS2 because it was a cheap DVD player and got into gaming later on because of it. Alot. A guy I used to work with has had a PS2 for 4 years and has NEVER bought a game(retarded i know but people will suprise you)

Xbox has a year lead on PS3 and is losing the lead slowly but surely from the month to month sales. Not to mention that PS3 sales only lag by 50,000 in january with less than 1/4 as many titles.

Nintendo isn't on shelves due to the demand and the cheap price N can't keep up with production demand(popular product and all). The systems failures that plagued 360 at launch prompted MS to do a full production shutdown. MS actually had les produced in the same timeline. While sonys production did nothing but increase from launch on.

Just go anywhere to find out that bluray read&write heads are compatible with CD, DVD, and Blu-ray without the need for a second head. The narrower laser would still be able to inlet into the warps of any current red laser pits due to it's smaller nature. As long as the chip controlling it is programmed to recognize the different pattern it can read it.

My 360 flopped 3 times. My PS3 is flawless as is my Wii. When MS can make things that aren't broken from the start they may have a chance. As of now all 3rd party games have been developed for 360 and ported to PS3 quite cheaply and easily. It's called Lowest Common Denominator.
