"Developing exclusively for r700 hardware would produce breathtaking results."

No it won't based on 512 megs of memory and bandwidth if this is true.
First off we have no idea WHAT 4xxx series GPU it is. I HIGHLY doubt it's of he 4870x2 variety.
Second, to go with these rumors, the sources CLAIM that this so called NEW Wii will be just as powerful OR not as the Xbox360 and PS3.

"We have confirmed with multiple sources th...

This should have at least at minimum 1gig of fast memory.
If these specs are true, then the hardware is totally out of date already. Th GPU is said to be based on AMD's R700 which is the 4xxx series. That's already YEARS old.
They claim at least it will support shader model 4.1 which is a good thing, but based on this GPU, the Tessellation unit will be inadequate compared to GPU's out now.
It will be faster most likely than the other consoles but not by m...

And this is what a next generation game looks like.
All I can say is WOW and I feel sorry for FPS games that come right after this one.

If this is in the $300+ price range, it's going to be a tough sell especially in this economy. Just look at initial sales for the 3DS at $249? Now imagine the NGP selling for $350 or more.....
Once you hit that price range for a hand held it is no longer viable for most parents to buy it for their children...and hand held dedicated systems demographic age range is 18 and under mostly. 18+ over as seen by recent data taken show this age group to game on consoles, Cell Phones and n...

And the cost of the PSP is also cheaper than the DSi right now. In Canada for example the PSP can be bought in many places for $120 or even less now in some places downtown!
The DSi and the larger model are $20-$45 more. If not higher. They are still selling for $139-$169+

If you think games are expensive for consoles now, wait until next generation when the cost development of making a next generation game goes beyond the 30 million mark on average....Imagine what these publishers will charge us then

This has to do with price. The 3DS is almost twice the price of the PSP and the 3DS has little to no games because it just came out. Then when you factor in the economy, high oil prices, unemployment increases, this is no surprise a $250 handheld is not selling as well as a $120 handheld that has more games and cheaper ones at that.
This is not rocket science folks, it's plain economics.

Why are people bringing MAG into this conversation?

First off, MAG has NO destructible environments or set pieces. These are HUGE resource killers. It leaves a larger memory and bandwidth footprint then having and environment that has little too no destruction. It's the very reason games like Gears of War, KZ3, Uncharted 2, God of War 3 DO not have this. If it did with those visuals the game would run 5fps.
Second, MAG has ZERO real time Effects and real time li...

And we all heard that before when the specs of the PSP 1 was revealed compared to the DS and EVERYONE said the PSP would mop the floor with the DS.
The only way the NGP does this if Sony makes the price competitive with the 3DS. If not it will be the same as last generation

Edit:

Hmmm lets see...
The PSP can be bought now for under $120...the 3DS is $250....
Weak dollar. High oil prices. Slow recovery of economy.

If they can increase the air combat count above 24 for consoles, that would be great for console gamers.

"DICE to Focus on PC with Battlefield 3"

...and that's because PC developers make games with consoles in mind these days with its
512 megs of memory and 5+ year old GPU/CPU...

If they did not then they could do what Dice is doing:
Making BF3 with the PC FIRST in mind supporting DX11 AND then making it for consoles.
They are not pulling a Crytek here.
Make no mistake, the console versions of this game will PALE in comparison to the PC version for NUMEROUS reasons and being "...

And none of those games you mentioned have full destructible environments and use real time lighting and HDR in higher FP. Some of those games do not even use HDR at all.

He might be trolling but what he says is true. Most console games have little to no use of Anti-Aliasing. If it does have it it's in the 2x or MLAA variety.
Most console games still today use no AA

To make a game like BF3 with destructible environments, all Real Time Lighting/Shadow and Effects, Tessellation, ADOF, etc. is simply not possible on the PS3 or Xbox360 without killing performance in every aspect and using short cuts and hacks to get around 512 megs of unified or separate pools of memory and paltry levels of bandwidth.
So the use of LDR, NAO32, MLAA, Deferred rendering techniques and fix camera angles for many games have become par of the course for all consoles game...
