I agree with Concertoine, also Nintendo needs to get rid of region locking.
I doubt the PS3 is going anywhere anytime. It already has a huge library of games and like the PS2 it will coexist with the PS4. It will mostly be adopted by 3rd world countries.
The 3ds is thriving and selling well. It's not surprising that the smartphone market is bigger today than consoles since phones are needed in everyday life. Actually it's apple that is in trouble since their userbase is slowly declining since there is no more Steve Jobs to attract new customers. I don't care about the casual market cause they can't provide games like the portable consoles.
Gaming is a hobby and any serious hobbyist like a real gamer won't settle for a machine that does gaming as a second function. The casuals will always outnumber the hardcore but the hardcore will always be having the best experience when it comes to gaming.
But if I'm outside I can't really rely on remote play here since our internet connection sucks in my country. It's better to just have the game on hand and play it anywhere than worry about the internet connection. I still have the GOW2 for my PS2 but I'll gladly pay for a Vita version since I this game is so epic.

True but what's the point in buying a new console if the games looks like last or current gen? Activision is clearly stupid if they think that this can pass for a next gen game.
Agreed, sometimes I just really want to get to that start screen immediately when I load up a game.
Oh my God...of War.....I sure hope this gets released for the vita soon! Playing GOW2 on my Vita will be absolutely heaven...or olympus!!!
True but I don't like add on accessories that much, and most games on 3ds don't support the circle pad pro.
I might be able to forgive Capcon if they release MH4 for my Vita. I have a 3ds too but I'd prefer playing MH with twin analog sticks.

Should it matter if it doesn't matter after a hundred years? I'm much more concerned on how much things have changed after all that time. The only thing that I can hope for is that there'll be a scientific breakthrough in life extension during our lifetime so that we can share our knowledge and experience to future gamers :)

The majority of people aren't real gamers in my opinion so it doesn't matter to them if they need a powerful handheld for their daily lives. Being a real gamer means investing in dedicated gaming machines in any form. To me that's what separates the casuals from the hardcore. Anyone who is passionate about a hobby will never compromise. Being a gamer is a lifestyle for most people.
You do realize that tablets and mobile phones are more of a necessity than a gaming console right? A console is more of a luxury item and a majority of people who buys phones and tablets aren't really into the gaming lifestyle. If you're a real gamer you'd invest in a console not a smartphone that does gaming as a secondary function.
I'm having a hard time finding those "high end" games on my android phone. Even the DS and PSP's game library are still superior to any mobile phone game library. I'll stick with gaming on my Vita and 3DS while I do other things like making calls and texts on my smartphone. There is no way that mobile games will surpass dedicated portable consoles in depth and enjoyment when it comes to gaming.

It's saddening to see grown men and women pay money just to have a conversation with the opposite sex. I'm well aware of these kind of services in Japan since I read a lot of manga but seeing it in real life with the reasons on why it is thriving is kinda disturbing to me. You can't buy sincerity from these types of services. I can't laugh cause I see people in the video that are afraid to face reality and their issues, ah well it's their life anyway.
What the heck is going on in Japan? Is the pressure of having and supporting a family too much to handle so they become dysfunctional with the way they handle relationships? I've heard of a guy there marrying a video game!?!?!
Not horny enough in my opinion, they're facing an aging population with less birth rates compared to everyone else.
