Very true. I can live with cloud gaming but there's something so reassuring about having a physical copy of a game. I like owning a game I paid for. Also my internet usually sucks so I don't think I can have a good gaming session with the cloud.
Dual booting is the way to go. I remember the old days when I can play a game in DOS and use windows 95 for other things. Games were much faster running on DOS since there were no other applications running on the background. I do hope the Steam OS is purely for playing games where it uses all the pc's resources for gaming.
I doubt it would cannibalize the ps4 sales. People are gonna buy the ps4 even with the Vita Tv around. I honestly think that they released it in Japan first as a compensation for having the ps4 released there next year, also portable gaming is much more in demand in japan. If this device sells it will garner a lot more portable developer support. I think Japan will also be a testing ground on what other things Sony can do with this device.
I have to disagree with you there Gribble. Since MS won't likely see any success with Japan, Sony decided to pursue the west first where the Xbox brand is much stronger. It's a sound strategy to be focusing on areas where you were weak, plus it results in a much larger install base if they are successful.

For a guy who LOVES the pc he sure makes a lot of comments in the console threads. This just screams of insecurity. I love my gaming pc but I also love my consoles. There are games on consoles that I can never play on my pc. It's not my loss if he doesn't wanna play on consoles.
I was actually expecting 4gigs, we all know that consoles don't need much memory to run games. I still think 8gigs is a lot but then again it's better to have more than less. If it helps extend the PS4's lifespan then I don't really have a problem with it.

I carry a smartphone along with my vita and 3ds and it hasn't been a problem for me. I bought a phone for important matters in mind and I'm not wasting precious juice on games cause it's hard to find decent charging places outside my home. Also I have lots of games on my phone but I easily get tired of them cause I don't really enjoy phone games, it ain't my thing. I don't care if they're free or cheap cause they don't provide me with the content I get from ded...

It's still not cheap, that price is in the range of Sohny and Samsung's premium phones. Apple is nothing without Steve Jobs vision and charisma.
No one would take the 5C as a cheap alternative to portable gaming at $549! I could buy both a 3ds xl and a vita for that stupid price. Only an idiot would pay for a 5c with the purpose of portable gaming in mind.
The Vita Tv is still a Vita. Hence it is not a $100 hdmi out device. If you're gonna troll at least say something that wouldn't backfire on you and make you look stupid.

the surface rt is cheaper but it's arm based so I don't think it would suit my needs. I need something that can also run windows games.
If they have almost the same specs as the surface pro I'd bite.
Eh? I've been using a gamepad since 1996 on some pc games. There are certain games that can only be played comfortably with a gamepad.
