Well they really made some of the same mistakes they did with PS2. Relatively hard to develop for and poor quality launch games. If it hadn't come out before Xbox and Gamecube and had a ton of good games by then it would not have been nearly as successful. Best game playing it today? Yeah probably. Definitely not the best game for its time. UC2 is great but FFVII, MGS, and GTA3 were so much more revolutionary for their times.
I'd much rather have a system with good hardware cost $250 at launch then be reduced later. The Wii was frankly a massive rip-off at $250 considering the Gamecube era hardware. I seriously doubt it cost them over $100 to produce it. Only reason it sold was the relatively lower price and Wiimote gimmick. Despite being a terrible value and downright rip-off for system, accessories, and games. 3DS on the other hand seems awesome and well worth the cost.
Yeah if even half of the announced games come out near launch I'll have to get one. Didn't care much for DS since the touch screen never really lived up to the full potential. After Metroid Hunters I was expecting a wave of FPS and 3D games that just never came. Lots of good JRPGs after awhile at least.
DS with a 3D screen and decent hardware stats sounds very good to me.

That's incorrectly assuming people actually care about those Wii games. %90 of the Wii userbase are idiots who wouldn't even recognize the decent games. You and a group of weirdos may care about those kind of games but they're not what makes the Wii sell. It's marketing and perception that sells the Wii, not quality or popularity of the "good" games.

Nothing has or ever will top Halo1 LAN games for me. Played almost every weekend with 10+ people back in the day. Never been that into a single game. Halo2 was the biggest disappointment ever. Destroyed every subtle depth of gameplay I loved and focused on poorly balanced weapon whoring online play.

Yeah I'm kind of a big offender in this area. I own a ton of games I've barely played. Just can't resist good deals and don't have the time. We've really hit the point where you could never beat every worthwhile game in existence.
Although I'd like to see a Starcraft MMO from them I just don't think the non-space based sci-fi genre in general works well for an MMO. Diablo just fits the classic MMO so well and there's tons of interesting things they could do with it. Either way whatever they produce is going to be the best in class and make bank. Yeah and IRL there's no respawns either. The game isn't even close to reality and neither should be the way you play. The most fun games are when everyone is running around gunning and gaining angles on eachother. A battle of shooting and movement skill. Not watching a hallway with a sniper rifle or hiding around a corner. Campers are just lame.
Why are they taking it down? With crappy Peer 2 Peer hosting on Xbox games there's really no reason to shut down servers. Just need a central server. Probably costs them very little to maintain compared to what they made off the game.
Doom3 didn't amaze me at the time let alone now that it looks dated as hell. All it had going for it was cutting edge lighting and cheap jumpy scares. Not a bad game or anything just nothing special imo.
I just think its sad that motion control is finally being done right with the Move but it came out after the fad is dying and without the support it needs to really take off. The basic Wiimote is such a piece of garbage I'm still not sure how anyone bought into it. Just sucks Nintendo won their gamble to launch a casual based system with a rushed controller and overpriced Gamecube era hardware.
