Set one year after the events of the first title, Metro: Last Light puts players back in the shoes of Artyom, the protagonist of 2033. The series takes place in a post-apocalyptic Moscow. Civilization has been destroyed by nuclear war. The last remnants of humanity fight amongst themselves in splintered underground shantytowns along the Russian subway system. The surface has transformed into a frozen, irradiated wasteland. Oh, and there are mutants. Obviously. Unlike other post-apocalypse games, Metro’s “wasteland” isn’t just shorthand for “big desert with some hollowed-out landmarks.” You won’t be doing much exploring. A few gasps of this poisonous air can be fatal.

4A Games celebrates the 10th anniversary of its first-person shooter by offering it free for a week.
