MMGN.com: Crackdown 2 Review

IGN have ruined scoring. 7.2/10 is not a bad score. It's not "average", either. It's a good game with problems.

Scores have changed, just like currency does.(once upon a time a $1 bought alot of stuff, now it wont buy you nothing) When you have 20+ games a year scoring 90 or higher, 72 is only average.

That depends on the site. There are actually unbiased sites and magazines in this world, that don't give 20+ titles per year a score of 90+.

depends on your concept of average, for me average is 7=decent=average, or >6=meh=below average a good game is 8>=good=over average.

Yeah can agree with the score, seems just like Crackdown but I'm not complaining I'm having a blast with it.

Scoring doesn't weight so much on an average among games anymore. It is more of a measure of how playable/well made a game is. A zero in the former would be a game that is just bad/not fun, whereas a zero in the latter would mean it is a non-functioning tech demo. This is why so many games are greater than 5s. The games are playable and people worked on it, but they just aren't good games.

I absolutely LOVED the first one. Enjoyed this one too. It's still a fun game, and if you liked the original, you'll like this too. It just doesn't excel in any new areas, and the problems from the first are still present.

7.2 = 72%, which is still a pretty decent score. If a movie got 3.5-4 stars it's considered quite good, so why is 7-8/10 not seen the same way?

As someone said earlier. . . There are multiple games being released that receive much higher scores. That changes the curve. 7/10 would be a C in most schools. If you graduate anything with a C average you're considered average. The same goes for games.

I was like that in the first game, which I never finished. At first I was enjoying leveling up my agility, but then I just got bored of it and that probably greatly contributed to me shelving it.

That's one of the games biggest problems. You can complete it without leveling up completely, and then there is NO incentive to get all the orbs, outside of Achievements. It is shallow, and the repetition hurts it. It's a game that is great fun for the first 4-5 hours (if that), but beyond that, you have to have real dedication to look for all 800+ orbs around the place.

it was lorded by some because it sold well. I think we all know why it sold well therefore it was elevated to a 'better game' just off its sales...sad. Pity more work wasnt put in. What is up with MS's studios man.

The graphics are disgustingly bad. The gameplay is the exact same as the first but with zombie creatures.
Its crackdown 1.2 really. Its an expansion that some of you are dumb enough to spend 60 bucks on.

After already playing borderlands what is the point to get this game? Its just another shooter which is really easy to play.

I'm really pumped for this game but canceled my pre-order because I think it's going to drop in price pretty quickly. I loved the first one in spite of it's flaws and after playing the demo I'm sure that I'll feel the same way about Crackdown 2.

Let's take a look at why people consider 72 a bad game, before you guys start flaming the guys that are suggesting, scores like this are 'bad'.

How many games have scores above 80 (lets say 80 because I feel the metascore will settle at 79, 78) on XBOX? Huh?

150 ish? Now there are technically 150 games BETTER than this one out there. So why should anyone (from an unbiased perceptive) throw down the cash on this game? I think that's how people see it. Sure 80 or 72 in this case, isn't bad by any stretch. But there are many tiles, which are a lot better out there.

Is that all you people can do when your game gets lower scores then expected? Get angry and condemn any site that doesn't give it a good score? Does that seem mature to you? I saw the demos for Crackdown 2 and was surprised how average it looked. And before you start the name calling, look at the gameplay vid for Infamous 2 and compare it to Crackdown 2. You shouldn't believe every developer that tells you they worked hard on a game. By the look of it they didn't seem to have tried that hard at all.
