Mass Effect headed to the big screen

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I just received a press release announcing that Thomas Tull's Legendary Pictures has acquired the rights to bring the fantastic video game MASS EFFECT to the big screen.

Now this is a franchise that could be turned into a great movie. I won't hold my breath but Mass Effect has a great story so you would have to be terrible at what you do to screw it up.

this will fail just like the rest of the video game movies, and its not fair for this awesome franchise, the movie wouldn't do justice to this game.

i think games should be games and movies should be movies.

I disagree. I think this a great prospect for making a successful film adaption... Though not so much of an adaption actually: I think it has enough potential as a plain script.

Just because most game inspired movies suck doesn't mean they should stop trying. Sooner or later someone will get it right.

It could turn out okay. Not all movies based off games are terrible. I actually enjoyed "Doom" on a level. Riddick was cool etc.. Maybe this could end well? Who knows. Mass Effect is an amazing franchise though.

If done right, this would be one of the greatest movies of all time.

Hollywood sure does like to screw things up, though, so we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed if this is actually going to happen.

The game developers/writers/composers should all work along side these movie companies, and actually take part in the creation of the movie, if you ask me. This would be the only way to ensure the movie would be just as awesome, and not some completely effed up pile of crap. I know I sure wouldn't mind them taking a break from games for a while to work on a film.

To be honest, though, I have no faith in these Hollywood people. They'll find a way to ruin this in some way, I'm sure.

I guess they'll use the same format as the games for the movies, since ME1 and ME2 are already perfectly split. There's a problem with this concept though.

If Hollywood try and do a movie 'inspired' by Mass Effect and not just port Mass Effect, it will be shit

it all depends on who writes the script and who directs it. if they get some help from bioware, and get the guy who did district 9 it may turn out alright.
