PC World Review: 'The Beatles Rock Band'

PCW: It's impossible to conceive of the history of rock without The Beatles, and after "The Beatles: Rock Band," it'll be hard to envisage the history of rhythm games without their band-in-a-box debut. Part of that's because … well … they're The Beatles. It's like Orson Welles. Whether he's riffing on Shakespeare or reading the phone book, you're pretty well floored.

Likewise jamming with John, Paul, George and Ringo. Put a plastic axe, pair of sticks or microphone in your hands and strum, drum and warble along to "Yellow Submarine" or "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" with your pals -- what's not to like? All developer Harmonix had to do was duplicate its award-winning "Rock Band" shtick and sales were assured.

How Harmonix sparked the DLC revolution with ‘Rock Band’

VGW's Brian Shea: "The notion of downloadable content is commonplace in today’s landscape of launch-day DLC and season passes, but prior to 2007, to have a legitimate, laid-out plan to support a console game post-launch was not a common occurrence. Harmonix, a company that was in the midst of a transition away from the most popular franchise in the industry at the time, Guitar Hero, had a vision for a brand new IP that would eventually revolutionize the concept of downloadable content."

We all do it – well those of us of legal drinking age; invite some friends around, have a few drinks and then break out the console to get our video game on. According to Craig Bryan; here is a list of the perfect alcoholic accompaniments for a night of fun and frolics.

i know smokin a little something here an there goes good with journey.

Journey kinda makes you wanna smoke, methinks. Well, for those open-minded individuals who don't just condemn the act, like myself, I can see Journey turning a person's view introspective, and a certain drug allowing for some rather insightful revelations.

(For the record, I've smoked three cigarettes- I was drunk- and one cigar in all my life.)

cool, journey is a great game for that, and mary jane lobes it too.

playing games drunk is the worst thing ever, reactions are to slow and falling asleep and leaving your console on all night! wake up with 5000 messages, take away food all around you and feeling like poop looking at your online stats wondering how bad you played :( bad times

I'd mostly only bother with music and sports games , the rest not at all , besides indeed buzz
