Need For Speed Payback PS4 Pro vs Xbox One X Graphics Comparison

Need For Speed Payback seems to be another example on how games can benefit from stronger hardware. This direct comparison of gameplay captured at 1080p on both Xbox One X and PS4 Pro shows some good stuff happening on Microsoft’s console and the difference is quite significant.

You are correct. The mountains on the pro are blurry like you are wearing the wrong prescription. Where as with the X they are crisp and clear. That's the most obvious and the benefit of extra VRAM.

Yeah the Mountains do look better on the X but tbh this game dose not have anything wow about it. For me Horizon 3 still has the crown for open world arcade racer that game looks stunning.

Was the settings the same? Can you turn of DOF on XBox One X?

Yea, textures was better. But was the image better from a car photographers perspective?

The power difference is not that big and its time people realised the fact that differences will be hardly visible to the naked eye on 3rd party games. Now, the next Halo and Gears is where I expect to see a big leap in visuals on the X, both xbox exclusives (go figure).

There are already games that perform at 125% extra pixels going from PS4 Pro to Xbox One X with extra graphical features too. The difference is very visible to the naked eye, because the naked eye can clearly see the difference between soup like results and clear sharp picture with detailed textures.

I would rather say it's less. Aliasing all over the place on the PS4 footage. That pretty much is gone at 4k... X downsamples, PS4 is native 1080p....duh This doesn't even look like Pro footage at all.

They're both 1080p. The only difference is X's supersampling. The only big difference I noticed were the mountains.

Haha Julion, 900p vs 1080p was a difference in machines launched together and PS4 being cheaper...
This difference is between machines year apart and 1x being 100$ expensive AND based upon Pro's specs... so yeah, difference is basically NONE!

I guess PS4 fans eyes get worst over time because it was easy for them to see the difference between the PS4 and the X1. But, now they have trouble telling the difference between the Pro and X1X? What happened? All of you need to sign up for the Affordable Care Act before they kill it and get your eyes checked. Because every reviewer and Dev that has seen the X1X in person says it is a huge leap over the Pro ( which from the sales most don't even own) and don't even compare the standard PS4 that most of you own. You do realize it goes both ways.
For every Sony fan that can not see a difference, there is an Xbox fan that can now tell the difference.
At least Microsoft already spent the money on using real science to explain how close you have to sit next to a tv according to the size of the tv to downplay the ps4 vs Xbox one. Numbers did not matter etc., now, all of that is out of the window.
When you release 3 consoles, two upgraded, you better be able to tell a difference.

Not if you want to see who has better super sampling and framerate. Usually framerate drops when going to 4K. So many people prefer 1080p with a higher frame rate and general performance increase. This is is where 90% of the world will care as most people on PC still only have rigs powerful enough to run a stable 1080p. 4K is still a very niche market at the moment regardless of whether youre a console or PC user. And on top of that even most PC users who can run 4K still can't hold a steady frame rate above 30fps... If that. Most people arent running high end CPUs and GPUs.

Same, I feel that there's a huge crusade against this game. While it has its issues with the Speed Card system, Ghost's devs are refreshingly transparent, F8RGE on reddit responds to everyone's criticisms with honest answers and telling us what the devs are doing about it.

Yeah, I love my Forza games,but I like EA racers as they tend to be story driven which is different than say Forza or the Sony racer where you just go from race to race. I am fine with Payback, in fact I like all of the NFS games EA has released this gen like I said it is something different than the usual Forza and GT games.

It's most likely a Custom RX580. Which is a nice card with some improved clocks etc.

X version has better AA or just higher rez.

But as comparisons go. They are 99% the same.

But the Truth is Payback Sucks. you can't choose your car or track's you want to race. also most of the time you driving around doing nothing. you jump from racing to drag racing to cross country racing. you never see the Rhino as claim at 2017 E3....... For those reasons Payback was returned to retailer. from my personal experience Payback nothing more than extension of the 2015 reboot with daytime events. don't get me wrong graphics are great but lack the True spirit of need for speed in Arcade racing. What causing need for speed to constantly Fail is the open world machanic, the autolog , constant check points. Need for speed need to go back to offline arcade racing.

It´s the law of diminishing returns at full play here, fellows. Differences are there, XONEX versions DOES look better, less jaggies overall sharper images and clearer textures. But as we push the boundaries of hardware into upper tiers, the gains are smaller, of course. But to imply there´s almost no difference at all is just being obsequious towards Sony´s brand... Of course it´s not a night and day difference, and nobody was expecting that.
