The Open World In Need For Speed Payback Really Is Massive

When EA dropped their trailer showcasing the world of Need For Speed Payback, it called it the biggest one for the franchise. But now they have released an image of the whole map of Fortune Valley to prove its point, and it really is massive.

The spirit of Burnout Paradise lives on

DedicatedDark2821d ago

Burnout Paradise world size was pretty tiny, it was made as such to so players can learn shortcuts and layout,

DialgaMarine2820d ago

For an earlier PS360 title, it was still a pretty good size, especially for how good it looked. Then they added Paradise Island and made pretty big.

datriax2821d ago

And its boredom will be equally massive no doubt.

Kaze882821d ago (Edited 2821d ago )

Everytime they tout how big their maps are, the more boring they usually are. I dont care how big it is, I want it to have content and be fun. I think that 90% of these open world driving games still are missing the idea. I remember the "good old days" when you had individual tracks that had perfectly honed curves, shortcuts, pickups and so on.

Nowadays its the open world with bland samey roads with nothing special to them. The funny aspect is also that the open world games also usually stick to same routes, even tho there is multiple ways to get there. You got all these diff routes, use them. Add more content, shortcuts, jumps to them!

subtenko2821d ago

I just want something I'l like as a NFSU2 online player. That map was nice, had airport, hills/mountains, nice city, nice routs in between highways and off roads. Will not buy another NFS until I can have the same amount of fun as that one with open world and mics ( we made our own games too, like drag race points and freeze tag.

AnubisG2821d ago

@subtenko

If you won't buy a NFS game again, how would you know that you will not have as much or even more fun with it than you did wirh NFSU2?

C-H-E-F2820d ago

what exactly do you expect to do in an open world racing game? Eventually they all get boring, there's not 1 open world racing game that was fun throughout it's whole life cycle.

AnubisG2821d ago

How do you know? Have you played it yet?

Retroman2821d ago

Im not Surprise payback could be Massive boring . so far chasing after a truck not to impressive .
Ghost games should have re-develop Blackbox studio Hotpursuit 2 and Underground add cops or copy Ea Canada HighStakes with frostbytie engine .

Another question : this game will be release next month "Nov." no New update video of the game Best selling point footage of cop chase , no footage of Rhino cop chase. dang hate to admit Payback might be Massive boring.

crazychris41242820d ago

And it doesn't have free roam cops. Who was the moron that thought that would be a great idea??

Prince_TFK2820d ago

If it is anything like Forza Horizon then can't wait. I have always loved open world racing.

nevin12820d ago

How this and Forza matches up with The Crew 2?

Retroman2818d ago

Open world races Suck

Ea need to take Nfs back to drawing Board offline racing ,2 player gaming , no always online, no pause crap , no alldrive, no autolog crap. simple start line end with finish line . No drifting every freakin corner , no continous racing after finish line. have a track selection mode as in Hotpursuit 2 cops on your tail able to take em out . need Short cuts that actually benefit your lead.

Highstakes, Hotpursuit 2 and Underground, Mostwanted, The Run.

Rest of those titles are Junk,Crap, disappointing.

Can’t be upset with this one.

Terry_B1733d ago

Some people are always upset..no matter what they get

Retroman1732d ago

N4S payback was Craptastic to it's fullest.........just as Heat is.

sushimama1733d ago

Excellent. Never played Vampyr

FanboySpotter1733d ago

You go by metacritic so you're not gonna enjoy that game unfortunately.

CobraKai1733d ago

That’s why you don’t go by metacritic.

Final_Aeon1733d ago

It goes both ways - it could be a warning against trying a subpar game. Or, like in quite a few cases media outlets docked it too many points for small imperfections. I'm also looking forward to playing Vampyr.

Hakuoro1733d ago (Edited 1733d ago )

That's funny because I remember people talking it up when it was one of the games on game pass.

I guess what console it's on decides if it's fun or not.

sushimama1733d ago

It's above 70%.... worth a try

sushimama1733d ago

On second thought, to be honest, maybe I won't try it out. Not the greatest month this month.

Gaming4Life19811732d ago

😭damn that had to be a slap in the for sushimama after their post on the xbox article.

Vampyr was on my radar and then i played on gamepass and it wasnt good to me but lots of people like it and its free so everyone should at least try it.

Christopher1732d ago

I thoroughly enjoyed Vampyr. But, lots of people have specific things they're critical of and it's not perfect at anything. So, who knows.

I like that I can try a NFS game w/o paying more than I already do per month for it. I doubt I'll like it, but, at least it's there to try.

Gaming4Life19811732d ago (Edited 1732d ago )

NFS payback sucks but hey its free so give it a try you might like .

Yea i thought vampyr was pretty bad and i love vampires but i just could not find anything good about it. We need a new legacy of kain and soul reaver.

Kurt Russell1732d ago

It's not a great one, I played a fair bit of it myself... It's playable is all I can really say.

Relientk771733d ago

I absolutely loved Vampyr. It's an underrated gem. The combat can be kind of clunky, but the story, characters, setting, abilities, and everything else is great.

RazzerRedux1733d ago

Was a very good game. Just needed more a-hole NPCs that I didn't mind killing to level up.

Spenok1732d ago

That's the point though! They can't make it too easy to kill just anyone (unless you're just a self absorbed a-hole yourself).

RazzerRedux1732d ago (Edited 1732d ago )

"They can't make it too easy to kill just anyone"

And that isn't what I said. Come back after you actually played the game and then talk about it.

Spenok1733d ago

I've been wanting to play this since it launched. Never got around to it though. So this is a really nice treat.

TheColbertinator1733d ago

Payback was awful. Worst NFS game this gen.

LiViNgLeGaCY1733d ago

Many people say the exact opposite.
