Sony: Backwards Compatibility is pointless, nobody wants to play old games.
Also Sony: Re-re-release of Shadow of the Colossus!!!

mikeslemonade2519d ago

Plus probably new additions to the game and bosses. SotC remake won E3 2017 alone. Everybody else, sit down.

samden2519d ago

Well they aren't wrong, I don't want to play the old clunky PS2 version. It was a phenomenal game and I would like to replay it, but I won't because the nostalgia glasses just don't hold it up once you start playing. A remake with modern graphics and controls is an entirely different story.

Nodoze2519d ago

100% agree on controls. I have tried to get in on this one but the controls simply break the immersion every time. If they update not just the look, but the feel and the control, 1000% in.

Adrian_v012519d ago

I'm honestly getting sick of all the remakes. I want new games, not this stuff.

MegamanXXX2519d ago

You should tell that to Phil Spencer 😁

InTheZoneAC2519d ago

Maybe if people didn't ignore ps3 they wouldn't remake a remake. Many people who own a ps4 didn't own a ps3 for whatever strange reason that may be.

kayoss2519d ago

So you missed the rest of the conference? Did you not see they did announce to new games Or did you just decided ignore it?

Forn2519d ago

Good thing Sony releases notable games every month. Not to mention all the other new games that get released week to week.

Dark_Knightmare22519d ago (Edited 2519d ago )

Good thing there's been tons of new games released on ps4 so far this year with even more to come

authentic2519d ago

its a remake, not a remaster.

Adrian_v012518d ago

@kayos
There wasn't much to see there. The game releases for the rest of the year are rather disappointing.

@Forn
Could you name those games?

@KickSpin
What the hell has that got to do with my comment? I'm not buying them, which still doesn't change the fact that the teams and time could've been used developing a new ip instead.

Cupid_Viper_32518d ago (Edited 2518d ago )

Yea DIVAjones
Along side
Spideman,DaysGone,TLOU2,GTSpo rt,God OF War and more to come

Sure yes you're right lol.

raWfodog2519d ago

Backwards Compatibility refers to playing older games on current systems. SotC PS4 will be a completely remade game.

MADGameR2519d ago

This is a REMAKE you dumby not a re-re-release.

Kribwalker2519d ago

Still celebrating the return of an old game

Dark_Knightmare22519d ago

It's a remake and it's no different then movies getting rereleased on new formats all the time hell I just bought heat for the second time on blu ray alone but nice try trolling fanboy.

mkis0072519d ago

Id rather play remakes than bc frankly. Graphics dont age well pre-hd.

Kribwalker2519d ago

Sony was probably trying to figure out a way to make back the money lost on The Last Guardians 9 year devolpement time and decided to make them remake the same game for the third time (original, HD Remake, PS4 remake) so they could pump it out as fast as possible and try to make some money back

kowan2519d ago (Edited 2519d ago )

Haters who doesn't even bother watching or reading: I hate everything so I will spread false information based on my own assumptions that are based on nothing at all. (specifically on SOTC PS4)

QUIMICOMORTAL2519d ago

Looking better than anything Scorpio has so far

Lynx02072519d ago

Remake. I would not play an old, ugly looking game again (I know, SotC is awesome game, but we have 2017 ffs), remake, on the other hand, I'm going to buy day one.

darthv722519d ago

I like the original, it was very ambitious and then the HD remaster addressed some of the originals issues and was very well done. I'll still get this version but it is rather telling how Sony downplayed older games only to release a remake. I guess we can look forward to a remake (or remaster) of last guardian on the PS5 / PS5 Ultra....?

tyasia02519d ago

It's pretty close to a new game with new art assets and graphical effects. But w/e, at least they aren't re-releasing the same game and shoving micro-transactions in it.

gangsta_red2519d ago

Why release a free game with optional microtransactions when you can re-re-release the same game at full price?

stuna12519d ago

@ gangsta red

"Why release a game with optional microtransactions when you can re-release the same game at full price?"

That's actually a good question that you can actually ask Microsoft!Because besides re-releasing a game that they'll take $10 off at most, they'll also add a generous slathering of microtransactions in it to boot! So in all actuality gamers end up paying 2 to 3 times more for the game itself.

gangsta_red2519d ago

@Stuna

What game are we even talking about?

And why should I ask MS when they are giving the option with most past games available to be played for free with BC if you own it?

rainslacker2519d ago

@Gangsta

Are you saying you wouldn't prefer a proper remake of the original Phantom Dust rather than the lazy port with added micro-transactions that they finally released?

Dark_Knightmare22519d ago

Im happy for it too I want the best possible quality and looks for my favorite games just like I do my movies which is why I buy the same ones over and over and over again

Allsystemgamer2519d ago

Cough cough

Master chief collection

Cough phantom cough dust cough

Phill-Spencer2519d ago

As someone who didn't play the old one, i'm excited for this!!

gangsta_red2519d ago

I believe it's offered on PSNow, if you have a paid subscription for that service you can check it out there.

ILostMyMind2519d ago (Edited 2519d ago )

So, in the next PS Now story, will you praise the service?

gangsta_red2519d ago (Edited 2519d ago )

I've always praised PSNow....

-------

http://n4g.com/news/1771993...

I disagree, I think PSNow has the makings to be THE killer app for PS4.

PS has some of the best games in the last two generations. Imagine having that whole catalog available at a reasonable price.

Imagine if Sony had a price structure similar to Netflix's streaming service. They need to have a 6 month to a year price structure for unlimited streaming of every game at a decent price.

Then they need to push the service and bring it to the forefront of the consoles UI. Get the word out there and tell everyone the benefits of having not only PS4 games to play but a huge back catalog of great games from PS1, PS2 and PS3 games.

"Its very unlikely that consumers without a PlayStation console will have a DualShock 3 or 4 lying around and would be willing to continue paying the subscription cost."

How hard is it for a consumer to pick up a controller? They purchased a TV they could easily buy a controller. Or maybe Sony can offer some kind of deal where a controller comes with every TV that has their service.

AGREE 2 DISAGREE 2

-------

I'm shocked you missed that and many other comments from me IvanSF, praising the PSNow service.

THamm2519d ago

I loved PSnow, and the price is what's keeping me away. Being able to access it on different devices and PC is key. I would sign up for game pass yet no xboxone ATM

DaGR8JIBRALTAR2519d ago

Me too, looking forward to it.

gangsta_red2519d ago

"This remake is using new assets and graphics engine although Sony is still labeling it as a remaster just like Crash Bandicoot Trilogy. The development of the game is being handled by Bluepoint Games who are well known for remastering games. They also worked on the ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD remaster for PS3"

It'll be interesting if they add anything new, like more monsters or anything else besides better visuals.

DaGreatOne2519d ago

Man you got hit with a lot of down votes for quoting the article. Either that or wanting additional content. Facts and options must be frown on I guess.

DaGreatOne2519d ago

Yeah I realized who it was afterwards so I quickly understood after I posted nevertheless I see nothing wrong with the quote. But I get the down votes now.

gangsta_red2519d ago

Exactly who am I? Lol, dont fall for the traps here.

UCForce2519d ago

Remake is also make the gameplay even better. Tell me this, why Microsoft canceled Phantom Dust remake ? It would be so much better than remastered version.

gangsta_red2519d ago

Why are you asking me why MS cancelled the remake of Phantom?

And what does that have to do with me wondering if the people doing this game will add more monsters or anything else.

We have other remakes like FF 7 that are actually changing a lot of the design and chore mechanics from the original game as well as visuals. Is this doing the same?

UCForce2519d ago

You two make your statement very poorly. That's why you two get downvote. Like Crash Bandicoot remake have been improve a lot from original game. That's call remake.

septemberindecember2519d ago

His comment was phrased appropriately. Shadow of the Colossus is being remade, and asking if there will be extra content in the game is an apt question. There shouldn't be anything wrong with it.

This looked fantastic. I still kinda like the old ps2 art style though.

Shadow Of the Colossus Retro Review – A Colossal Experience in a Beautiful World

Zachary M. Cain said: Shadow of the Colossus is hailed as one of the best action-adventure titles of its time. The game was originally released for the PlayStation 2 all the way back in 2005. It was so good in fact, it got a remastered version in 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and was well received by old and new fans alike. Let’s revisit this iconic classic in 2024 and see how well it holds up to its past reputation.

5 Games To Play While Waiting For Dragon's Dogma II

Daman Shelley from NoobFeed writes - Dragon's Dogma is truly a one-of-a-kind game, and there really is no other game like it, but there are a few that come close. Whether with their fantasy settings, the ability to climb mountains, or just with the overall same charm as Capcom’s iconic RPG. Here's a list of games that will hopefully scratch that Dragon's Dogma itch.

every gamer should play this game

gold_drake112d ago

cant wait for it, feb and march are busy busy months ha.

SovereignSnaKe112d ago

I can still hear the title screen music in my head after nearly 12 years. Loved every minute of it.

MrNinosan112d ago

I have no issues filling my time til DD2.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink, Infinite Wealth and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will probably me more than enough.
More terrified I won't be done in time.

DivineHand125112d ago

Try not to burn yourself out before the game releases. This is going to be a long and immersive RPG like the first one.

The games in this article are all great and I believe the people who are excited for Dragons Dogma 2 probably already played most of those games.

For now, I recommend you prepare yourself for long play sessions if you will be picking up Dragons Dogma at launch.
