Cloud Strife, one of the most popular characters to ever grace video games, has stormed his way onto the Nintendo Wii U in a rather shocking revelation. Some are baffled, others are upset, and the rest of the fans are ecstatic to have him included as part of the Super Smash Bros. downloadable content.
Masahiro Sakurai, the director of Super Smash Bros., explains why he believes online play isn't a good fit for the series.
I feel bad for Smash fans. Those guys have been trying to maintain the scene active for 20+ years and get nothing but hate from Nintendo.
Sakurai explains how he and Nintendo still don't understand how the internet works.
FTFY
I’m sorry, but if a game is MP then there’s no f*cking argument that can justify no online MP. What he says about competition being different from just playing with friends shows me how out of touch these people are.
It’s not until a new generation that understands things steps in to clean-house that we’ll see some evolution here.
It's a big fighting game so online multiplayer is a must. Competitive smash is the only thing I see fun in these games anymore asides from the big character reveals, singleplayer is laughable and you ain't gunna have people over for couch gaming much.
If Nintendo makes a new smash, it needs a huge evolution for singleplayer/couch play to be enjoyable for me any more. But we all know they'll just do a deluxe edition for their next console lol. They really need to up their servers as well.
he sounds more like is trying to justify Nintendo ineptitude to create a proper network infrastructure in order to Smash Brothers work properly online.
Wii U recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, and in honor of the occasion, new data has revealed the top ten best-selling games of all time in the United States.
Xenoblade Chronicles X needs a remake when Switch 2 comes out! The game was fantastic, and it looked great! Better than most Switch games.
It isn't going to happen though. Monolith soft said "it is way too big", and would be too costly. I would absolutely buy that again, especially a remake or even a remaster.
Xenoblade Chronicles X should have sold better.
Thank you homebrew community for breathing life into the system Nintendo spent years trying to forget.
One of my favourite systems for homebrew along with the Xbox, vita and ps2
Please port Xenoblade Chronicles X, I'm shocked it hasn't happened yet since everything else pretty much got ported to the Switch.
Alex DS. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "The release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch made playing Smash 4, on either system a thing of the past. But for today’s piece, I wanted to revisit the 3DS version of the previous generation of Smash Bros., to see how it holds up and see if time has changed my opinion on the first portable Smash Bros. game."
Not sure how I feel about Cloud in Smash.
I don't see the issue. We've had Final Fantasy characters appear in Mario Hoops 3-on-3 and Mario Sports Mix, two games that were developed by Square Enix. Even the Mario franchise and Dragon Quest franchise crossed over in Itadaki Street DS and Fortune Street. Nintendo and Square Enix are no strangers to having crossovers with one another.
Cloud's inclusion in SSB4 is more referencing the fact that the Final Fantasy franchise got its start on Nintendo consoles than the actual character himself. Square Enix wouldn't have generic job classes or any of the lead roles from FFI-FFVI be the rep because they aren't as well known as Cloud is. Cloud is the most iconic rep to choose for Square Enix's biggest franchise, so its a natural fit in that aspect. Even moreso than Solid Snake from the Metal Gear franchise.
Smash community can be a pain in the ass most of the times. I don't see what is wrong with this. Nah just the typical people mad because his wished character wasn't chosen.
At the end of the day despite how awesome it is it would have made more sense for Sora to be included.
Although my problem is despite how much better and popular Smash Bros is they couldn't let Cloud be in Playstation All Stars...the characters being the biggest let down of the game. If it had the fan favourites it might have stood a chance
Obviously the whole "Super" thing was the games other problem but the characters were the main one for me when you are trying to establish a new franchise
The more options, the better ! simple as that
