Preview: Hands On The First Three Hours of Dead Space 3 | Capsule Computers

When Dead Space 3 was unveiled for the first time at E3 2012, I had more than a few reserved feelings. Switching from Dead Space’s traditional dark corridors and space environments for a more of a Lost Planet/Gears of War look and feel with a brand new ice planet setting introduced and the controversial addition of co-op in the game’s main story. Admittedly I was sceptically of the game’s new direction; I mean if it ain’t, broke don’t fix it, right? But getting a hands-on preview with the first three hours of a near finished build of game, I have to say I was more than surprised.

I particularly liked this part - had no idea it was like this:

"Overall Dead Space 3 is far less linear than Dead Space 2, and while it takes place on an entire planet, it isn’t open-world but rather takes a few cues here and there. Introduced in Dead Space 3 are optional missions inline with the game’s main missions. And of cause as the name suggests, they’re completely optional but if player choice to complete them they’ll be rewarded with valuable items. Going off the beaten path is what the game wants you to do with hidden rooms and items scatted throughout the game."

Gahhh! I want to love the Dead Space franchise but I can't stomach horror games :(

Root4477d ago

Well you'll love this game then because it's not a horror game anymore.

Sadly...it might be true...CROSS YOUR FINGERS WITH DEADSPACE 3, IT DOESN'T TURN INTO FEAR 3

From the demo you can make assumptions - It's not Dead Space as we know it. But the more I hear about what the actual game will be like, the more I believe that assumption is false.

Until the game gets released we won't know exactly how true that is, but I remain optimistic. The more I read about it, the better it sounds.

"But the more I hear about what the actual game will be like"

But I'm guessing your hearing that from EA like what he said before in an interview about it not being an action game

Yet then they've said this a few days earlier...

http://n4g.com/news/1162304...

Capcom did the same action route with their game, RE5 and RE6 were nothing like RE games and RE6 became worse. I wonder what will happen to this horror game with EA doing the exact same thing as Capcom.

EDIT:

"That is a small slice of what he actually talked about. Well done on cherry picking comments made by developers"

...he still said it though

It's not nit picking when thats the articles headline, blame the guy who published the article on here.

Hey...fine if you want to give EA your money for ruining another franchise fine but don't believe for a second that it's a horror game anymore or a game which made DS....well.....DS

That is a small slice of what he actually talked about. Well done on cherry picking comments made by developers. How about reading the FULL interview?

Lol, you're the one putting so much stock into it.

Haha, you make me laugh. You use something as a tool to make an argument, then blame the tool.

@Revolver_X_

Obviously I didn't bore you enough that you didn't comment

Seriously people like you disgust me on this site, so full of hate and anger against people. Not even keeping on topic with the article

Your boring me with commenting on my posts most of the time.

Why Dead Space 3 Will Be the Hardest to Remake

If EA and Motive Studio plan on remaking all the main Dead Space entries, they have to change a lot of what made Dead Space 3 so divisive.

Simple, do not bother with a Dead Space 3 remake. Rather have a new entry for Dead Space.

myfathersbastard789d ago

Yeah I agree. Make a dead space 3, but have an original story/setting. They’ve proven they can do the game justice, and I think they could evolve 2 in a good direction, keeping a similar tone. I’d love s Dead Space 2 and 3 though. The remake was fantastic. Top tier remake, up there with RE2.

jznrpg789d ago

Remaking 3 would need to be a reworked and somewhat changed remake as 3 was flawed in most peoples eyes and the worst entry.

Ninver789d ago

It's the worst in the series.

Dead Space 3, A Ten Year Reunion

WTMG's Kyle Nicol:

"Was Dead Space 3 really that bad?

Well, it’s a complicated question. Dead Space 3 is undeniably the weakest of the trilogy. It’s a game that deviates so far from the original formula, that it throws a lot of what made Dead Space special in the first place out of the window. Although, where it does make up for it is one of the best cooperative shooters on the market, even after all this time. Do I recommend playing this game ten years later? Hell yes. But make sure your expectations are in the right place. It has a lot of problems that bring it down."

They need to seriously continue this ip with a new entry. Even if it's just another movie I don't care I love everything about this game.
