Ever since its launch, XDefiant has faced problem after problem. The team behind this game is working tirelessly to fix all the problems from the jump-spamming, over loss prevention to the increasing number of cheaters. Unfortunately, even though the XDefiant devs have recently announced some much-needed improvements to the Ranked Mode, the players are dissatisfied.
XDefiant Executive Producer Announced Ranked Improvements
On July 27, the Executive Producer of XDefiant, Mark Rubin, answered some burning questions on X. Generally, this is something that this EP is especially praised for. Taking the time to answer the players’ questions even on the weekends is a promising sign of goodwill.
One player, SGT. Johnson asked: “How about you do something regarding players losing RP for people who quit? Love 3 v 4s and losing RP when it’s out of my control. Great job Mark”. Mark Rubin gave a short answer that should have made the fans happy. He said: “That’s coming. In fact, starting next week matches won’t start unless full”.
Unfortunately, this started an avalanche of unsatisfied players complaining. One player, kneadedbwead, explained what the problem was. They said: “Bugs are understandable. Bad net code, takes a long time to fix, we get they’re working on it. But in what world is “Ranked match starts without full parties” ever acceptable that requires that long to fix?”.
Some Players Criticize the XDefiant Devs
After constant promises of fixing annoying bugs, it seems that even with the announcement of improvements to the Ranked Mode the XDefiant devs have finally lost the players’ support. Most of the community members are deeply disappointed and they aren’t shy to admit it.
ScareTactical noted: “Absolutely zero confidence in this dev team to get Ranked right. It’s already hard enough to balance everything, they have an uphill battle to the point of playing catch up to make it even slightly playable”.
Buttercrust_ added: “I said this in the first couple of weeks and got crucified for it. Rubin on Twitter is just running damage control for things that shouldn’t have been an issue in the first place. There are only so many times we can hear “We’re working on it, it’s on the list” for QOL features that should be in at launch”.
Now, we get how frustrating this situation is. Having to constantly ask for the bare minimum can leave you disheartened. On the other hand, we also know how hard developing a game is. The devs are truly engaging with the community, we don’t think you should take that lightly. If you have the patience, we’d suggest you stick around. If you don’t, take a break and we’re sure the game will be up to your standards upon your return.
