Ranked Mode is a fairly recent addition to XDefiant and the players haven’t been the happiest with it. There have been some minor announcements that didn’t sit well with the fans. The XDefiant devs tried to appease the players by providing them with a roadmap for the future changes of Ranked Mode, but that backfired.

Which Changes Should the Players Expect in the Future of Ranked Mode?

On July 31, the official XDefiant profile on X shared an announcement. It stated: “We know Ranked is a big topic and wanted to share our plans for the road ahead! Read below for the changes @ACHES mentioned in our XDebrief”.

The “fixed already” section lists 0RP after matches and CHARLIE-01 errors, as issues that have already been solved. The S1.3 patch should solve two more problems. After the patch, lobbies won’t start without all 8 players and CTF will be added to Ranked.

Even more changes will be applied during Season 1. Max ping will be 125 and there will be input priority for Ranked Matchmaking. RP ranges for matchmaking searcher will be updated, and RP progression will be faster. A faction skill team limit will be applied. Also, quitters will face additional penalties.

As for the plans for Ranked in Season 2, they include several interesting additions. There will be progressive RP penalties for quitters. If you disconnect, you’ll be able to rejoin the match, so there will be no excuses. Also, the Leaderboard will feature the top 500, and there will be Ranked loadouts. Finally, you’ll have the ability to restrict any item if you need to.

XDefiant Players Insist Some Changes Are Urgent

Unfortunately, as with previous announcements, this one was met mostly with disapproval. The biggest problem is that the players think that most of these additions/fixes should already be in the game.

MartyCZ noted: “Most, if not all, of these things should have been implemented the day Ranked dropped. “Penalties for quitters” or “You can rejoin a ranked match” aren’t new features to be excited about”. Krypt0night confirmed: “Rejoin match should have been on day 1, this is just sad”.

Several players pointed out that they expected placement matches soon. NwLoyalist stated: “This is so important for the bronze players. It gives a safe place for people to play and get comfortable before being thrown into the mix of Unranked. Without placement matches, bronze will always feel like a fight that it shouldn’t be”.

Most of all, the players asked for net code fixes. Joal0503 said: “We need Operation Health before any of this. The current net code issues alone will never make this competitive ranked mode feel legitimate”.

Now, we truly appreciate all the effort put into XDefiant, they can’t fix big problems, like net code, in a month or two. Especially not while they are working on so many other issues as well. In addition to all the fixes, they are also listening to the player base and trying to incorporate their wishes as well.

On the other hand, the XDefiant players have all the rights to remind the devs of bigger issues than future changes to Ranked Mode. Finally, we can’t wait to see what the future of XDefiant will look like. With this amount of the fans’ feedback, the devs have a real opportunity to make a seriously great game.
