When something unusual happens in a game, players tend to assume it’s a bug. Sometimes it is, but it often happens that “the bug” is actually there by design, not by mistake. Recently, a Valorant player reported stuttering on a seemingly flat surface which nudged the community to debate whether it was a bug or a feature.
Valorant Player Reported a Possible Bug
Sometimes, players are just unlucky and they stumble at the exact wrong moment and get killed. JazRR944, unfortunately, had that experience while. This player posted a video where they can be seen walking around the corner on a flat surface, but they suddenly stuttered, which messed up their aim and ultimately they were killed by another player.
The OP wondered: “Why did my movement do a little stutter here? Really confused about what happened here. Apologies if this is a common thing I’ve just never experienced before. The little ‘jump’ really threw off my aim”.
Lots of players blamed it on bugs and lag, which is, of course, possible, but the game was running smoothly up until that point. Others suggested that the player accidentally stepped on the ledge and swiftly came down.
Now, this is possible, as you know, you don’t have to jump on some ledges, you’ll automatically step on them while walking. Although, if you look at the video, you can see that the player isn’t near the ledge at any point.
What Actually Caused the Stuttering?
So, what was it? Some Valorant players claimed the stuttering wasn’t a bug, nor did the player accidentally climb the ledge. If you look at the floor, you might figure it out, as it is kind of obvious.
The catwalk (the grate) was the problem all along. Limp_Philosopher3135 noted: “There’s a bump on the cat [catwalk] that repeatedly ruins games for me because it forces you up and down and all around”.
Another player, prada30, confirmed this theory. They said: “There is a specific spot on the catwalk where if you go left and don’t jump you would still go on the ledge. Could be a bug, don’t know why it exists, but you can try it in custom. Just go left on that spot, you will see”.
So, even though we can’t say for sure if it truly is a bug, we can leave you with this piece of advice, look where you’re going and factor in the catwalks. Truth be told, sometimes it’s about the journey, not the destination. Valorant community proved once again they were capable of working together to find a solution. No matter the problems, or the issues, this community will always pick the right side.
