A new Descendant has been announced and will be joining the fight pretty soon. In Nexon’s latest co-op shooter, you play as Descendants, superhuman warriors protecting humanity from the Vulgus and Collosi. There are 14 unique Descendants at the moment, but we received word that No. 15 is on the way. The game is barely a week old (at the time of writing) and already we have announcements of some major updates coming pretty soon. So, let’s see what is the release date for the new character in The First Descendant, Luna.
Release Date for Luna
While there is still no official date, we know for a fact that Luna will be joining TFD in early August. It has been revealed in one of the Dev Chat videos, and you can see that the first major update will feature Luna, among other improvements and content.
In that live stream, The First Descendant’s designer, Lee Bumjun, talked about the current state of the game and what’s planned for the future. The automated translation (Korean to English) of one of his posts stated: “Luna will be updated on August 1st.”
We are unsure whether it means we will get updates on her official release date, or that Luna releases on August 1. Such is the nature of automated translators, subtle details and nuances can be lost in translation.
What to Expect from Luna in The First Descendant
The devs said that “Luna is a highly unique character, themed around music, offering a distinctive combat style that feels like rhythm action.” From this announcement, we can assume that Luna will be a damage dealer. But, it is also possible that she will fill a “support” role, reminiscent of Lucio from Overwatch (her gun does look a lot like Lucio’s).
At the moment, Luna is an NPC in the game. But, in about a month, she will join the playable Descendants. We expect you will be able to unlock her in the usual manner, just like Valby or Freyna, by gathering special materials from quests and defeated Colossuses.
