The Finals Fans Wish For Diverse Passive Class Abilities
The Finals community has always been creative. With Season 2 coming to an end, and Season 3 just around the corner, players are sharing which improvements they’d like to see. Over the last couple of days, one topic has gained quite a lot of attention. The fans would love to see bigger distinctions between the passive abilities for each different class in The Finals.
Some Players Ask For More Class Diversity
A Redditor, JuniorRoad5418, suggested: “Classes having passive abilities to make them seem more of their own and not just their weapons, like a light having a very small double jump (could never guess where I thought of that), a medium having a longer reach for interactable items like zipline/vault/door, or Heavy quick melee doing more environmental damage, or really anything”.
Many others expressed enthusiasm over this idea. Moist-Anything-688 said: “I think that’s interesting actually. And I like the idea of giving a light a stronger passive to make it more viable in ranked”. Another fan, Sunny_McSunset, noted: “This game desperately needs passives. It should work like the specializations, so each class could choose between 3 passives that are specific to that class. It’d give a ton more flexibility on character design”.
One player, 012_Dice, gave a complete list of the changes they’d like to see. They started off by listing the additions for a light, among them were “grapple, faster mantling, rope and ladder speed”, “a small speed boost after taking damage”, and “double jump”. For a medium, this player suggested “a med beam”, “a turret” and “demat”, the last one would mean inflicting more damage to a player that didn’t see you.
Finally, a heavy should get “charge”, “shield”, and “goo” – granting less arena damage. Redditors went wild for this list, it was simple, yet quite comprehensive. It would differentiate the classes even more, while not favoring any of them as the best.

Would Bigger Differences Between Classes Make The Finals Imbalanced?
As always, there were fans that liked the game as it was. One of them, heyitscrim, explained: “I mean, there’s already a difference in movement speed, health, and the ability to fit through certain spaces that is specific for the 3 so although it’s a cool thought I don’t know if I’m personally on board with them pushing it further with the passives”.
SrKatana also disliked the idea. They elaborated: “The more you complicate a game, the less attractive. No”. Others, like xhvpnot1k, pointed out how even small changes would complicate the game. They stated: “I like the idea, but it would be a balancing nightmare”.
As for us, we actually love the idea of diversification of classes. Sure, big changes might lead to quite an imbalanced chaos, but tiny buffs might just add that special something to each class. Now, it’s up to the developers of The Finals to decide if they’d make the fans happy by upgrading the passive class abilities.
